Professor ZImanyi was an excellent teacher and his class was one of the best I have taken at Davis. His lectures were very well done and he got everyone engaged in the lecture. He threw out candy during lecture. His exams were difficult but there was decent curve at end of the class. Quizzes were based off HW problems and were usually easy.

I thought this professor was excellent. Zimanyi gave great lectures, he wasn't abstract and tedious like most physics professors. He seemed to genuinely care about teaching and about the students. Well done to him for teaching such a difficult subject in a way that made it interesting and enjoyable.

Professor Zimanyi is hands down one of the best profs in the Physics Department, and possibly in all of UC Davis science & engineering. He's crystal clear, funny, articulate, entertaining, and an overall great guy. If you are able to take his class (or even sit in on it) you should. He even received an award for distinguished teaching!

Good professor. He loves physics and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with students. He puts a lot of effort into making the class interesting by making jokes and throwing candy and doing cool experiments. Quizzes are from homework problems and are worth a lot. Exams seemed reasonable, but somehow the median was D...it's curved though.

This professor gives the best physics lectures I've encountered. Smart, enthusiastic, dynamic, interactive, and seriously funny. A treasure to students. Grades are based on fair exams and quizzes, rather than on hw problems (where half the class would probably just copy down solutions from the internet).

Dr. Zimanyi is hands-down the best professor in the UCD physics department. In fact, he recently received the award for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching. Loved his class - he made it very fun and interesting. Crystal clear with a great sense of humor. Quizzes are super easy if you do the homework, and same goes for exams. Highly recommended!

Zimanyi is an amazing lecturer--there was never a dull class. He went through a lot of the difficult material far too quickly, though. Quiz problems are pulled directly from the hw and can be a grade booster if you consistently do the assignments. Exams are problems from the book, but should not be taken lightly because they can be difficult.

This was one of the funnest teachers I have had yet. Great lecturer. Teaches it very well. Went to office hours and he explained it in a way where I had to come to the conclusion, which helped me understand it a lot better. The candy he throws out is a bonus too. Really funny and a superb teacher.

Definitely take this guy if at all possible. His lectures are great. Likes to get to know the class on a first name basis. He encourages you to interact in class in order to test you on your understanding of the concepts and gives out candy for right answers. The midterms and final questions are right out of the book. Best professor I've had yet.

His lectures are always fun, but I can't say that I'd use his approach if I were a teacher. For this year, the class was on quantum mechanics. Really, the concepts weren't that hard, but the fact that he used ONLY essay testing made the class kinda hard.

Best professor I have had so far. Very enthusiastic about physics and teaching physics. His random life stories and jokes make class fun, and so does the candy he tosses at people. He actually made a subject I dislike into something somewhat enjoyable. If you do the homework he assigns you'll do fine. Take physics from this man if you can!

Definitely an ‘A’ in my book. He’s an enthusiastic lecturer with a genuine passion for the subject and a tendency to throw candy at you to encourage class participation. The weekly quizzes are fairly straight forward and he lectures almost directly from the book.

Great lecturer, very entertaining in class. He has a genuine love for physics and it shows in class. Exams are problems photocopied from the book. Gives out candy in class. Take his class if you get the chance.

This guy is just hilarious, best professor I've taken. He'll often tell you little stories and jokes that are pretty funny. Class is pretty darn hard, the HW is killer. But the curve is pretty good so don't sweat it too much. Quizess straight from HW, but HARD HW.

Excellent professor, exams are hard but are all from the book so if you can do the book problems you are set. He gives out candy in class and goes off on tangents about various physics things. Probably the best professor i have ever had. Nothing like a typical university professor

Funny guy although i never attended lecture and still got a B+. Get my drift? Boring lectures but easy assignments and midterms/finals are pretty much previously given hw and exam questions. Be SMART in your studying and you should be fine.

He is the typical university professor who only wants to research and not teach. His midterms are photocopies of questions from the book. His lectures are unclear in the sense he jumps around. Not good at lecturing at all.
