He is so rude and ignorant. He should be teaching a high school class because he talks to you as if you were a child. I cannot stand him. He never posts grades and will critici you until the end of time. He acts like a child himself, if the class is having a overall bad time.. he throws fits and/or tantrums. I dropped his class. He is disgraceful.

Professor Malek was awesome. This class is designed to be challenging. He understands that and wants you to succeed. He will go out of his way to help you and your writing will significantly improve over the semester. Getting involved in discussion and volunteering will show him you care and he will love you for the effort. Great professor.

Comment:

Take this class if you want a lot of hassle for no reason. There are easier profs. that teach this class. Huge 8pg single-spaced report at the end and a ton of busy work that he grades way too subjectively. Teaches straight from the textbook, classes are dull. No midterm/final though, and he seems like a nice guy. Would recommend someone else tho.

He's a hard grader and really rips apart your papers. But he does it with good intentions to really help better your writing. Once I stopped ****ing about how he was too hard of a grader and started reading what he wrote on my papers, I started to get satisfactorys on my papers. It's hard work but just listen and do what he says you'll get an A.

Gerry can be tough and class can be a bit dry, but he really knows how to make you a better writer. He is intense on commenting on papers which sometimes days your just not in the mood for, but it really does help you in the end. He really pushes 'analytical academic writing'. If you participate, you make his day; he's pretty down to earth.

It really is hit or miss with him. I had a teacher exactly like him in high school so I took an immediate liking to him. Just be sure that you participate in class because he does notice and it will affect your grade, for better or worse.

I took business writing with this professor, and I did pretty good. He is very helpful if you let him know you want to improve. The class itself is pretty laid back. At the end there was a lenghty business report, but all in all a pretty laid back class.

He's really not that great. He criticizes your paper to no end, with no real advice that can be applicable to other papers. He also takes too long to grade...he doesn't get papers back to you in time to see what you could improve on in the future. Nice guy, not very good at telling you what he wants from you, or how to go about doing it.

Prof. Malek is a great guy. Very helpful and insightful with relavent topics. Very consiterate with grading if you work hard. If I were an English major, I would take more classes with him. I hated English as a class my whole life until I had Prof. Malek, he makes class very enjoyable.

I've never hated a class more in my life...The C- I got in his class got me booted from honors and I went on to get an A in non-honors IH w. minimal effort. Nothin I did was good enough for anything more than a D+...will critique the mess out of your paper and no revision is quite good enough. I agree, sucking up is the only way

Many people will not appreciate him, in order to do so you must see the big picture. My advise... take him before you get into upper level english classes, he will teach you how to close read and analyze, which is something most people do not know how to do. He made me a great writer

I enjoyed taking Gerry's class at the beginning of the year, then it became sort of a drag sometime around mid-semester. He is not too good with appreciating different writing styles, and has a clear-cut definition of how he thinks you should be writing. In short, don't try to go against the grain in this class.

Very good class. He gives a lot of great tips on how to write good papers and he is always willing to answer your questions. If you're unhappy with your grade, you are able to make it up somehow. Turned me into a better writer (already!).

Easy class good grader but you have to do a lot of reading. Every week a new novel and paper was due. If you weren't satisfied withyour grade your were able to make corrections to it and hand it in again. He is an easy grader. NO ONE FAILS
