I have taken several courses with Professor Gunderson. He is not easy, he just expects graduate students not to lie to themselves, meaning, they should do the work they are getting into debt for. He ignates thought and plays a devil's advocate without forcing his own opinion upon students. I highly recommend him for those graduate students, who

Outdated material. Gave someone an A on a seminar paper without footnotes...HM! Frustrating teaching style. Didn't seem interested in new developments in the region, rather stuck with Cold War info.

Great class. I agree with the previous comment. He also does not allowe his personal opioion to direct the discussion of the class like so many other profs at MIIS. He is great at putting the discussion into focus, and does't allow it to degrade.

Very low key. Don't mistake this for being boring. His Decision Making in Int'l Affairs seminar is good, but tends to attract slackers. Very approachable and friendly.
