She was the worst Chemistry prof in the entire school. She goes through the material way too fast and just assumes we know the material. I failed her class and had to take it again with another prof, which was 100 times better, I ended up passing with a decent mark this time. My advice would be to stay clear of her.

In all honesty Dr. Goward certainly wasn't my favourite professor but definitely not the worst either. The lectures weren't always super easy to follow as I sometimes is seemed that Goward felt that her students knew more than we actually did. However, if you seek help in office hours and after lecture she is very approachable remembers names.

The modules are very helpful (much more so than the lectures) but the modules are so long. So boring. So many. The weekly quizzes are assigned before any of the lectures actually take place, so DO the modules. If you had a semi-competent high school chemistry teacher then you're basically set. Show up for iClickers and do the Masterings.

If you keep up with the modules Chemistry is manageable. Goward is super sweet and approachable if you seek her out. You have to work for it but she is available in her office to explain things at length. A lot of the time in lecture is spent on real world app. so you need to learn the material on your own.

I felt like going to lectures was useless. Every time I went to a lecture I felt even more confused. I watched all the modules before coming and Goward just confuses me more. The lecture is supposed to build on what was said it the module but I feel like it takes a completely different route and makes it more confusing. HARD CONFUSING LECTURES

She often corrects herself and explains things with mediocre clarity. Everyone seemed to enjoy and understand Dr. Brock more than her when he substituted. Most importantly, I learned to never sit in the front row of her class. I guess my smile offended her.

A really nice lady but unfortunately not the best prof. Makes wayyyy too many mistakes, isn't always sure of answers when people ask questions, and is not able to explain things very well. Very approachable however and encourages students to come to office hours. Overall, definitely not the best option to have for CHEM 1A03.

Best prof in the Faculty of Science for sure. She's very approachable, friendly, and she genuinely cares about her students. She teaches really well (though I'm good at chem, so take that with a grain of salt), and I personally found the midterms to be pretty easy. Gillian is the reason I'm pursuing a minor in chemistry :)
