Professor Bhat is an all-around good guy, but the way he grades is very confusing. You take 3 exams throughout the semester (including the final) which are all essays. I literally studied exact sentences from the textbooks and write them in the essays, and apparently the detail wasn't thorough enough and I usually only got between an 80-85.

Professor Bhat is amazing. I loved his lectures and group discussions he would make the class do. It is very easy to get an A in his class. However, you definitely have to read and write good notes to write papers and take his exams. Also, if he requires you to have a book, you should read the book and DEFINITELY have it with you in class.

Overall good class, tests aren't too hard but you have to work for your grade because the tests are essay questions and he expects a lot of details

Girish is an amazing professor. He speaks to students in a way that is truly inspirational, and works at getting the most out of every student. His lectures and readings are always interesting, and participation is a must. He is a very laid back professor, but a few annoyances can set him off, such as phone usage and tardiness. One of the best.

Professor Bhat is a great professor. He is rough on the edges when you first get to know him, but he truly cares. Visit him during office hours every chance you get, and come prepared to meetings. Overall there are a few quizzes and then a short paper and your final paper. Put work into your final paper and show you are trying and you will do well.

Dr. Bhat is such a genuinely caring and inspirational professor. He grades tough on the essay tests, but if you provide details on them, you'll do fine. Classes are mostly discussion based (very few lectures) and he always provides insightful input.

Worst grader of all time. You can do amazing work and still only get a C. Avoid him if you are worried about your gpa because unless you write like shakespeare there is no way you will get a high grade in his class

Prof. Bhat is one of the most helpful and clear professors I have ever had. He took one of my drafts for an essay and completely helped me and aided in my grade. He is very helpful to those that are willing to go up to him and ask questions, and he makes completely boring and useless topics very easy to understand.

Bhat is a great professor, really knows the material n wants the class 2 do very well and know the material. 4 essay tests, small group discussions and 2 essays is the whole class. If you take notes, and add DETAILS in all essays you will be fine. He is weird at times, n sometimes treats the class like babies. Overall, very good professor

Girish is a very sweet guy, and super friendly. Loves to hear his students opinions in smaller classes during discussions. He's no fool though, and he won't be taken advantage of. Don't talk while he is, although I shouldn't have to say that. Not a very tough grader, wants to make sure you know the subject. Considerate of different education lvls.

I recommend Girish for any class he teaches. He is very straight forward and isn't intimidating, which is really nice, especially if you need to go to office hours. He is interesting and has a great style of teaching. 290 isn't a typically exciting course and after hearing horror stories I was very nervous, but was pleasantly surprised.

One of the best professors I have ever had or will have. A wonderful professor and a wonderful person. Classes are difficult but not unreasonably so. You will leave any one of his classes well informed about the subject, as well as a much better writer. Definitely take a class with him during your time at Cortland!
