Amazing guy who loves birds and his wife. He always told a lot of interesting stories (even if they were off topic). He gives really hard quiz and test questions, but if you do well, you know you know the material well. Willing to meet with us outside of office hours, and definitely go into him after tests to fight for some points.

I had Dr. Harper for Bio 102 and I struggled. He was extremely lecture heavy and crammed so much information into a small amount of time. I went into his office hours for additional help and he was rude. He made me feel like I was dumb and was insulting. I was very unhappy with everything about the way that he taught.

Harper really knows what he's talking about when it comes to the environment. This class is pretty easy, he gives you the notes online and follows them very closely for tests. Clear expectations, and a hilarious teacher

Dr. Harper is by far one of my favorite professors at IWU. He is a very intelligent man, and he is extremely passionate about his field. He is a very caring professor and wants all of his students to succeed. I would strongly recommend taking him as a professor if possible.

Brilliant man with a peculiar obsession with birds. Really made class fun with Youtube videos and funny stories. Also one of the most caring professors on this campus. Just come in for help once, he will know your name, and he will be in your corner your remaining time here. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

He is an awesome guy. You can really see his passion for his subject. He is hilarious too. He will really keep you interested in his classes and teach you a lot of stuff that you didn't know. Really really awesome guy. His classes are a must to take. Best in the Environmental Science dept!

So amazing! This class seriously changed my life. Yeah, his tests are a little bit hard: mostly short answer but they're really not that bad compared to other professors. His powerpoints are really organized so if you follow along you'll do fine. He'll slow down if you ask. He's really a wonderful guy and cares a great deal about his students!

Difficult class. You probably won't get an A. Not too much writing for a W-flag. OK class to take for the bio requirement, but if you have a choice, dont take this class (unless you don't mind a B or C, and a ton of powerpoints). Harper's a decent guy, but don't expect a curve or sympathy, he's a no-nonsense kind of guy. Decent as far as profs go.

Seems aloof at first, but does have a sense of humor. Not a bad guy, but not a great one either-he just seems good compared to all the other bio teachers. His lectures are dull, same PPT every single day. Tests suck. He'll make you apply the simplest concepts in the weirdest ways. An A isn't impossible, but hard to get.

Worst teacher I've ever had. His teaching is terrible. He just reads off his powerpoint slides and goes ridiculously fast so you can barely write even half of the information down. When I asked him to clarify something in class he told me to read the book and said no more. He was also rude and condescending when I went to him for help after a test.

I have taken almost all of Dr. Harper's classes. Although he's a challenging professor, he's one of the best and you will always learn a lot from him. He's a funny person to listen too. Highly recommend taking his classes
