Comment:

Mr. Oubre was the best math teacher that I had at UL-L. Because he teaches conceptually, I didn't find it necessary to attend more than the first or second class of each unit. From there I'd just make sure that I practiced the most difficult problems in the textbook. His final was one of the most difficult I've ever taken. I ended up making a B.

Now that I'm a senior and cursed this man enough, I must thank him. His class was the most theoretically difficult class I have taken in college. its true, integral calc seldom pops up in your engineering courses but hey sometimes you need a good butt-whoopee that actually prepares you. You pass this guy, you are engineer material

Alright, let us get this clear, try and stay away from this man. Although he knows calculus like Leibnez, he cannot explain it to the masses. His tests are abominable with his crippling lack of giving partial credit. 4.0 student in high school and I have never tried in a class that hard and came out with a D. Do yourself a favor and run from him.

Your typical horror story math teacher. That teacher that seems to pull test questions from the air instead of using questions similar to those in the textbook or class lessons. Strongly advise someone else

If you want to learn Calculus better than ever, take him. If you want to be given the grade, don't take him. He is by far the hardest teacher that I have ever dealt with, but now I know my calculus better than ever. Great teacher but very challenging. He is great to take if you are a future engineering student.

Very hard class especially in you're rest semester. His tests are IMPOSSIBLE. I wouldn't take his class by choice being that I ended up having to teach myself which didn't work out well but If you're good at learning and understanding by yourself, then, yes take it.

simply do not take!!! made straight As in math throughout highschool including AP calculus classes and struggled to skim a C. tests are impossible to finish on time and homework is graded with no partial credit. AVOID THIS GUY AT ALL COSTS!!!

I was in Honors math and took Calc in high school and made all A's. This is my favorite subject. This guys doesn't explain the lessens or give enough examples in class. I suggest you get another teacher. He will meet you after class and try to re-explain it, but it's still uncomprehensible. Needless to say,I'll be retaking Calc this semester.

Lectures are clear, but doesn't give sufficient amount of examples in class to make lessons completely clear. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE TESTS. I took calc in HS and did well. I knew this information already. His tests were the reason I didn't get an A. Don't take him for the A. It is HARD work. Must do hw every day.

I'll be honest this was one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. There is some partial credit but not much. I literally had about 7 or 8 problems on the tests combined that was all right except for a negative sign or I multiplied something wrong. 70% off. No matter what. You wanna know Calc. take him. If you need time to do math and often check your work you will fail this class. Test are 10 q's and 50 minutes so you rush through the entire test not using logic and making errors. When times up the whole class is still working on the test. I've compared friends tests from other professors which were similar in difficulty but more time efficient

Oubre is a very good teacher and he really knows his stuff. He can communicate the information to you well and is very helpful during his office hours. His tests are really difficult but the problems usually come from the harder problems in the homework. You MUST do the homework to do well. I ended up with an A in his class.

He is a very good teacher, but more than half of the class did not pass. You need to do homework and go to class. The test are very difficult and long. If you need help he will gladly help. I would recommend his class if you really want to learn.

This class is nearly impossible. He does not teach, only shows the class that he can do it, but does not care if you understand before he moves on. You can do all the homework, but when its time for the test you will not understand anything, as he gives much more complicated problems on the exams. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
