Such an awesome teacher. Absolutely take this class with him. He really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He really loves his fish and is super enthusiastic during lecture and lab. Probably my favorite class I've taken at CofC.

Gorka is the man. He is really smart and knows everyyyyything about fish and you will too after this class. It is challenging and you will have to memorize fish names but field trips are fun and i emphasize Gorka is the man.

OBSESSED WITH THIS GUY. He is so enthusiastic about fishes that it is contagious. The work is so overwhelming, but so worth it, and the field trips are not only fun but supplement what you learn! He really cares about his students! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

I was so nervous going into 335 but it was great. Gorka's a great prof and a good person to know. The 106 IDs to memorize are super intimidating but honestly not as bad as you feel like their gonna be. The paper is nothing if you've ever written a research paper, and if not its good experience for a bio major! Labs=awesome.Nvr bought book&got an A

Gorka, comes off as a great guy, but really he is incredibly pompous. He definitely chooses favorites, and it is reflected in his grading of presentations/papers. He is a great lecture professor and other than the 5 big things you have to do the class is a lot of fun and very informative!

Fun Class! Won't use the book much. I learned so much from this class. Lots of memorization and I would only take if you are really interested in fish. Lots of work for the class and big research paper. And Gorka is the man! Really wants you to learn!

One of the few professors who I've felt like really cares and wants his students to do well. Also probably one of the most enthusiastic professors here. Class can be a little challenging, but nothing unfair. He also encourages you to ask questions and visit his office hours. All around great professor/person.

Best bio professor I've had so far at CofC! The class is interesting, the field trips are super fun & you won't find a more enthusiastic professor! There is a pretty big paper to write & you have to memorize quite a bit of fishes but it's really not bad... Just get started early! I would recommend this class to anyone interested in biology!

He's awesome! Hard class but he is so helpful! I went into the semester knowing nothing about fishes but now I feel like I'm an expert! Dr. Gorka Sancho and Biology of Fishes has changed my life! It helps you understand the basis all aspects of biology, ecology, and evolution, it is biology in a way you've never seen before!

gorka is the BEST! the material isnt hard and he is always willing to help you if you dont understand something. dont be scared of the ID's and memorization-it really isnt that bad. plus the fields trips are AWESOME and there's no lab write ups or anything like that. so take this class!!

Is the most enthusiastic and fun teacher. He is incredibly helpful and loves to teach. Bio of fishes is a lot of memorization and relatively difficult but oceanography is much better. His tests aren't too hard if you listen in lecture.

Very hard class - lots of memorization- 106 fish by genus and species! I learned very little in this class because I had to concentrate on memorizing latin names. Don't take this class unless you have a good memory!!

Best prof. I have ever had...great all-around guy, loves what he does, teaches with passion, and knows how to get you involved in the class...tests relatively hard, but you learn so much!! Take the course!
