I enjoyed this class and thought the textbook we used was better than most. As others stated, he indeed lectures straight from the text so I took relatively few notes. The synthesis papers are not difficult if you follow the template in the syllabus. His enthusiasm for the subject matter is contagious. I would like to raid his library.

He lectures right from the textbook. The best way to pass the class is to read the book. He is a really nice guy and wants everyone to do well. The tests are fairly easy and the papers are even easier.

Dr. Lewis was definitely a nice guy who seemed to care a lot about his students, but the frustrating thing with his lectures was how often he would go off-topic. He's very passionate about Chinese culture and will talk about it at every given opportunity. Often times his tests had material that weren't on the review we were given, a bit annoying.

Hes decent. Hes a really nice guy but I dont think hes a super great professor. Every class is a lecture where he basically just summarizes the textbook. Its a bit boring and I love history so that says something. Not particularly hard though.

lectures have been out of the book. He expects you to read ahead and one of the books he requires isn't needed. Get prepared to read the whole book and remember every section of the book. he does his quizzes per sections.

If you attend class and listen to what he has to say you really won't even need the textbook but it useful for writing papers. His passion is Asian history specifically China and he is extremely knowledgeable about it. He is also a really good guy who genuinely cares about his students and will help you if you talk to him. Great professor.

Dr. Lewis cares about his students. He makes the information that will be tested extremely clear. He is crazy about China, but he is unbiased in his grading. In this course, the grade is determined by two papers and three exams, including the final, with a good chunk of extra credit available. Warning: every class is a lecture, and it is boring.

Awesome teacher. He lectures a lot, but they are entertaining and interactive. He does not give out homework, you only have a few papers and a few tests. His lectures are right out of the book, which makes it easy to follow along. He gives a ton of extra credit opportunities. Really good class!

One of the most loving individuals at Weber State. He wants you to succeed. Only that his tests are SUPER difficult. He does a review session for the class a couple days before the test but some of the things in the review aren't on the test and many things on the test aren't in the book. You need to be very savy in order to get an A!

I've been meaning to write about this class since 2012. I really enjoyed Greg's style of teaching: quirky and calm, with a great passion for imparting knowledge. His class has stuck with me and I'd take it again if I could. The tests are fair and you're forewarned about the material. The lectures only feel long if you don't engage. Enjoy this guy!

He is probably the nicest guy I know! He really has a true passion for history, but is keep my attention on him. He purely lectures so you pretty much have to pick out what you think will be most important. He gives a TON of extra credit opportunity though!!

His voice put me to sleep. I love history, but I did not love his teaching. I didn't learn anything, and I wish I had. I wouldn't suggest him unless you only want to learn about China.

Very knowledgeable and dedicated to helping students succeed. Like every history professor I've had, he tends to fall back on the material he knows best, in his case, China.

Dr. Lewis cares deeply for students. Class is fairly easy. I never read the textbook and got a B. He lectures right out of the text book. 2 Two-page Synthesis papers per semester.

He would often go off on tagents so we didn't finish the course material, but I still learned a lot. He also put emphasis on Asian studies, which was good for me becuase I didn't have any background in that area. There was hardly any homework; just reading and two or three papers.
