Greg Shaw is an AMAZING professor. A lot of people claim that he's too tough, but really if you apply yourself and show up to class, you will do great. He's super helpful and available outside of class and genuinely cares about his students. His lectures are always well structured, clear, and engaging.

Greg is an Ivy League guy who expects Ivy League caliber work from his students. I have had a class with him every semester for two straight years and every single one has been gruelingly difficult. However, you will learn a lot from this man. He is, whilst a giant hard ass, one of the greatest educators I've ever had. I definitely would reccomend

He is a very nice guy and does care however the amount of work that I was forced to complete for a Gateway class was unreal. We wrote 5 papers, which he graded incredibly hard, whereas other gateways wrote 1 to 2. He knows his stuff but is extremely difficult to satisfy. Rumor in class was that he never gives out As on papers. hes EXTREMELY LIBERAL

This was a very difficult class, but he is such an amazing professor it was worth the struggle. A lot of reading, participation really matters, and he is a tough grader. I'll be happy with a B in the class and I feel like I worked really hard. The class was stimulating and he provided an open environment, judgment free.

Alright so I had to take American National Government cause I added a PS major and I was not happy at first because I only had time to take the class with Shaw because I heard he was a tough grader. He is, but he's also a great professor that wants to see you succeed and also knows how to teach the material so you're not just memorizing, you learn.

Phenomenal professor! He is very passionate about what he teaches and gives you a lot of very valuable information in class. For political science majors or minors you will absolutely love his classes. For non-majors/minors he gives you great incite about the world of politics and is always willing to step back and explain what you don't understand

He will certainly push students to give their all and excel, but he is one of the nicest and most intelligent guys out there. He cares deeply about the subject matter, teaching, and students' lives. If you're looking for an easy A, he's not your guy, but if you're looking for an enriching education that heightens your subject interest, go for it!

Extremely knowledgeable, very good at presenting and explaining information to the class. His exams consist of one essay and four to five short answer questions. He expects your very best and won't accept less. Hard grader, but he's fair. Overall I would recommend his class especially if you are interested in political sciene.

This man is an inspiration! He is so full of knowledge and I'm captivated by every moment in his class! He has very high standards and if you meet them then no problem. He's not as bad as everyone says just be willing to work hard. Lots of reading and class participation counts for a lot. A's are tough but doable!

I've had several classes with him. Everyone tells horror stories about him, but his classes are wonderful! Tough professor - he really challenges you to do your best and is SO helpful outside of class...about homework, papers, or life in general. Everyone should have at least one class with him. He's my favorite professor here.

Shaw is AMAZING. Great man and a great prof. 101 isn't hard if you keep up, participate and ASK QUESTIONS. He will ALWAYS help out. The tests are a little difficult for a 100lvl because they're all essay, but he's a fair grader and the questions always come from the study guide he gives you beforehand. Highly recommend but AVOID THE 300LEVELS

Prof. Shaw is one of the most intelligent and hilarious people I have ever met. He is not an easy grader, but the pure joy of having him in class easily makes up for it. Hands down the best teacher I have had here, and one of the best through all of my years of education. Oh yeah, participation is fairly crucial.

This class was incredibly hard but I definitely learned stuff. Prof Shaw cares A LOT about participation and will grade you hard on it so be ready to talk! It was interesting material though and the survey was fun!
