Comment:

Awesome professor. Extremely opinionated but genuinely cares that everyone is learning. He'll really open your mind to a lot of things and the information you learn will really stick with you for a long time. I would take him again if I could. The tests can be difficult and the reading can be boring, but as long as you take notes you will be solid.

He is smart. TOO smart. He is intimidating yet welcoming and humorous. Everybody who is crying about how hard is class is are just people who had no desire to further their knowledge that is applicable to your life in ways they don't even know. DONT BE LAZY & OPEN YOUR MIND then this class and professor will your outlook on life

Dr. Sutton is an amazing professor who knows what he is talying about. I have taken more than one of his classes and plan on taking more. He is not an easy A class but if you want to actually learn he is definately a professor you want to take.

Dr. Sutton is a VERY good and easy-going professor. You are almost guaranteed an A if you take notes and show up to class. He gives you the EXACT TEST a week in advance and makes it clear during lecture what he will include. All people rating him "awful" are most likely butthurt because he gave them a bad grade for no effort or slacking off.

Great at teaching, however it is a very difficult course. There is a lot of infomration and your notes are the only things that you have to rely on. At times he is very rude to students, but only when he is in a bad mood. The book summaries he doesn't even read, they are purely participation. Tests are purely written and VERY HARD.

Dr. Sutton is a great teacher! However, if you are planning for an easy grade this is probably not the course for you. Get ready to write - a lot. Tests are tough but he gives you the exact test a week in advance. Overall great teacher. I highly recommend.

Be prepared to take notes. That is the biggest thing with him. Show up, take GOOD notes, and answer questions (even if you are way wrong) and you will have a good time in class. He loves what he does and does a good job. He is funny and always plays music before class. His tests are all essay based, but if you study your notes you will do fine.

Dr. Sutton knows his stuff! He offers help sessions and rewards improvement on tests. He basically gives you the exact test and if you put in the time and study, you will do just fine. BTW, be prepared to listen to music from the 1960's every single day.

Dr Sutton is a great professor. He knows his stuff and does a great job presenting it to the class. Show up, take notes, do the required assignments, and participate in class discussion and you will be fine. His classes are not recommended for people who slack off.

He is very confident of himself. He is a tad sketchy on religious topics, but he is fair. His modern western civ class is very good and contains good information, however, the content and deliverance of it can be very dry at times. He is a great teacher though, and his tests aren't terribly difficult. Just make sure to take notes, preferably on a computer because he is too fast in his lectures to be able to write down everything he says.

people confuse arrogance with confidence. he is an influential and well-learned professor. he brings life to even the dull moments of the subject. he is open-minded and encourages you to seek out knowledge. i had him in 4 diff classes, nothing wrong with his style. if you have a problem with him its because your looking for a hand out.

I have had Dr. Sutton twice, and I really like taking his classes. He is funny and interesting. The ones who think he is hard don't show up to class or take notes. This is what college is about, People! If I get the chance to take his classes again, I will. He has a lot of experience and is willing to show students the world outside of Oklahoma.

If you are going to college to goof off, dont take his class. If you value your education and want to learn and be challenged then he is excellent. I have seen several references to favortism and that is pure crap. The only favoritism is for students that are willing to work hard in his class. Dr. Sutton is an excellent professor.

Hands down the best professor ever. people that dont like this guy are just lazy. He is fun and energetic in class. He is very hard, but you know what, you learn the material very well. Isnt that what college is all about?
