This was a weird class and Gregg Carter is a strange teacher. For the entire semester, you do nothing at all in class, you just listen to him lecture. For the first month and a half, you have no assignments and then it gets busy towards the end. He asks these stupid 'A for the day' questions in order to get participation. Be sure to do the reading

prof carter knows how to teach -- you learn sociology by 'doing it' -- he has you analyze real world data to teach you the basic concepts ... really, a great teacher!

Lectures were often boring and you have to take a lot of notes. If he writes something on the board, write exactly what he wrote down because tests had to be word for word, esp with the conclusions. It takes some time to catch the hang of it, but you definitely have to sit down and go over your notes a few times to understand it

I would highly recommend not to take this class. For most this is a core of the social science required core but seriously take psych or political science instead don't bother with this. Way too much work for 200 level your grade is three things: labs 30%, midterm 30%, final 40%. The labs are repetitive and the lectures go off track FAST and boring

There are a lot of labs, it doesn't look like many based on the syllabus, but he spaces out the first three for three months of the semester. Then assigns the last 5 labs to be due on the final and in 2 weeks. The class lectures are boring but he is a good guy and knows a lot about soc. Take if you enjoy lectures and be prepared to do a lot of work

Professor Carter is one of the nicest professors at Bryant. Class is graded on a midterm, a final, and easy but time consuming labs. I got a B on the midterm and didn't think I did great on the final, but ended up with an A. Most of the material is out of class reading. Great guy, he really cares.

Great guy and not too difficult of material, but GOOD LORD THE LABS. these things are terribly easy by so repetitive and time consuming. I wouldn't take the class again for that reason alone.

I enjoyed Professor Carter's class; he's a nice guy and is helpful. 3 exams (mainly multiple choice) and some homework from his "Data Happy" Book which you work on with a partner. You must read the book in order to do well on the exams; they're mainly reading comprehension. Lectures could get boring, but he broke them up with activities.

Carter is absolutely the best professor I have ever had. He goes on tangents and makes sure class is fun. He's hilarious and is so into sociology it's hard not to be excited too. The material is not particularly hard, all exam questions come straight from the textbook he wrote. Make sure you understand the models. Take him if you have the chance.

Carter is the absolute best professor I have had. He's a great teacher and so into sociology it's ridiculous. He goes off on tangents and is absolutely hilarious. If you have a chance to take him, do it. The work isn't hard if you pay attention and read the texts, the introductions in the beginnings of the books are super helpful. Great, fun guy.

This guy is the man... that is all I can really say. If you have the chance to take him, do it. He does use a lot of numbers and stats but most classes consist of him going off on tangents about something going on in the world today. Overall he's the man

Really nice guy, kind of unclear but the tests aren't based on notes too much and they're really easy if you do the readings which are not long at all. Attendance isn't mandatory and the homeworks are simple. I'd recommend him/take him again :)

Not my favorite professor. Classes drag even though he is funny and entertaining at times. The information from the class is boring. I personally do not really like his personality but maybe you will. Homework is easy but time consuming. Make sure you read the assigned readings.

Super nice guy-pretty sure dr carter knows everything in the entire world. I found the tests to be difficult at times, but they're heavily based on the reading so if you read you'll be ok.Go to class! The homework can be time consuming and tedious, but its not too hard so just put in the time. Interesting class, genuinely nice professor-take his class
