I've had Dr. K for a lab and also for human bio and he's probably my favorite professor at UNCA. He is very helpful and is good at explaining things. He can tell which students are actually interested in learning. Bio 108 wasn't easy, but if you show up to class, pay attention, take notes, you'll do well and he'll be willing to provide extra credit

Exams should NOT be that difficult for a 100 level course. He had to put curves on them because most students did so poorly. Many things on exams were never learned in class & he won't give study guides! Best thing about course are the students oral presentations. Pretty sure this class will be my lowest grade yet in college (C) due to his exams.

Kormanik is a terrible human bio professor. It's more like a chemistry class. He doesn't use moodle or even give reviews for exams. Don't waste money on the text, b/c it won't help. A very strict grader as well. He will NOT work with you if needed, so don't bother asking. I've made my lowest grades ever at UNCA in his class (goodbye 3.8 gpa).

Dr. K is awesome! Yes, the material in biochem is hard, but he does take time out of his schedule to help students out when needed. He is approachable and humorous. I do respect him as a professor and I hope other students feel the same. He has been my favorite professor at UNCA. Thanks Dr. K!

Don't waste your time...I wish i read this before taking the class..Hopefully the head of biology will read this and get rid of him..Do yourself a favor and become familiar with youtube Kahn Academy..I learned more from him in 20 minutes then i did in a semester from this guy

Doesn't use moodle so doesn't provide you with powerpoints. I agree with others, HORRIBLE teacher. I could probably take this class online at ANOTHER college and learn more. Like the other person said, it's 100% self-taught. He makes students feel stupid and is not very approachable at all. Very moody!

Could quite be the worst teacher i have EVER had. It's a 100% self taught course. Do yourself a favor and take the class anywhere else.Classes are boring and irrelevant. He is incapable of teaching and has no buisness being professor. The class is an absolute waste of money.

Had him for lab - never would have passed if I had him for lecture as well. So unclear, gets cranky when you ask a question, answering it makes you even more confused. Hates women. Has a quiz at the beginning of every lab, if you have to miss a lab and make it up with another teacher, you get a zero on his quiz. Take someone else if you can!!

You could completely skip classes but as long as you read the chapter well-you'll ace his tests. Is very unenthusiastic, seems to want to argue with you if you ask a question or bring up a point. Is helpful and kind if you go to him for help, but horrid at teaaching and motivating students to love biology! Avoid him if you can!
