Wow. Hysterical. Gause is definitely a funny guy, and his class was one of the best I've taken. Very fun, very interesting and certainly KNOWS HIS STUFF. Not a ton of reading, and mostly if you pay attention in class, he goes over the stuff in the readings anyway. Excellent professor.

Gause is on the Poli Sci departments best(along with Gierzynski). I took 051 & 168 with him they follow a simple format of 2 essays & five quizes, no exams. He's a tough grader & won't allow BS but you will learn and understand more than ever before.

Professor Gause is certainly an intelligent person and a respected international scholar. He was my academic advisor. He never cared very much and would ask you to come back later if you popped into his office for some advice. All in all, I was extremely disappointed with the caliber of his character. I think of him as a bad experience.

Great teacher, impeccable understanding of the subject matter; tough grader, you need to produce thorough, quality work to receive a's. Its also worth mentioning that he bears more than a passing resemblance to Dan Akroyd and Will Ferrell of SNL fame.

the best professor I have ever had at UVM. amazing, clear, intelligent, witty, full of information and anecdotes. You will learn more than in any other course, guaranteed, and have more fun with it, too. :D

Gause is a great professor, he is engaging and really knows his stuff. The class only had 6 quizzes and 2 essays, the quizzes are easy if you study but the essay he grades really hard. He wants you to put a lot of thought into the analysis of the subjects we discuss. I am taking his upper level POLS 157 class next semester, I highly recommend him.
