Greg is a fun and enthusiastic teacher with a heart of gold. He has a complex understanding of race and class issues, organizing, and lefty history in the US. HE has been involved with movements for social change for a very long time and is incredibly inspiring. He is a crucially important asset at Lang. He's sort of an old hippy type but is great

Greg's class was my favorite this semester. I especially enjoyed our field trip to the NYC Museum School in which Greg sat back and allowed us to ask all questions. He is very passionate about his subject, and while at times a bit too in-your-face/leftist, he is a great teacher and a wonderful asset to Lang/New School.

Greg still meets with me two years after I was in his class. Though he is mostly late to every class and has sometimes an overwhelming syllabus (don't buy any of the books, because they will change), I so value his prescence in the school and his perspective on education.

Tewks is the ishhhhhhh, one of the only lang faculty who gives a damn about black students in this school and understands the cultural differences that exists.

tewks is very in-your-face about where he stands politically - left of left. fine, since 99% of lang students are in agreement with him. but for those who try to make a sound argument against his politics, he slams you. its his way or the highway, an easy A if youre agreeable or impressionable.

Greg is still inspiring and helpful 4 years after graduation when applying to grad school. The concerns of his particular students in a class take precidence over the curriculum every time. Some of the most challenging discussions were in his class.
