Professor Vik can be extremely helpful if you ask. She takes attendance. You need to format your papers correctly. Just follow the format she gives you and you will be fine. Projects can actually be fun.

She can be repetitive but she really cares about how you do. If you have issues with structure or grammar, go to her office hours. Attendance is important because she takes roll. The papers are harder than projects but, if you check your grammar, you should do fine. Grammar can really eat at your points.

She's extremely helpful. 2 individual papers, 2 group papers and 2 group presentations. Very strict with grammar but then again it's a communication class. Attendance grade so you must attend class. Overall a great professor.If you have the option pick VIK instead of Anderson-Cruz I've heard she is not helpful at all.

Lots of group work, papers, couple of group presentations. Very helpful if you ask for it, but very strict about proper writing and citation habits. Seemed easy, provided English is your first language.

Whenever I gave an oral presentation, I got marked down for "clearing throat too often." I asked several of my classmates, and they couldn't recall that I had ever cleared my throat, and nor could I. Once while I was in her office, an orientation group walked by and Vik said, "New students shouldn't be laughing."

Vik is very helpful - make sure you go see her during office hours or email her often! She grades hard on papers and exams - just take your time and make sure you don't have any "critical errors." Overall, she's a great prof.

I just had Professor Vik for the summer. She was great. She is a tough professor but she is fair and she is very helpful. She is available to help by email and to review your work. If your're willing to work you have nothing to worry about. I loved her class and I don't even like writing papers and reports.

This course and this teacher are both absolutely useless. I learned nothing the entire semester. Every time I went to get my paper reviewed she'd say it's good and then tore me a new one when she graded it.

This class is terrible and Vik makes it worse. Keep a tally of how many times she says "for heavens sake." It'll help you pay attention. She's a very tough grader and will pretty much call everything a 'Critical Error' and cut 10pts. She is not afraid of failing students. Best Advice: Have her review your papers atleast 2x before it's due.

Perhaps the poorest excuse for a professor at State.Clueless, mean, angry, vindictive, arbitrary. Has no business teaching. Doesn't give a crap about her students. I've never been treated with such disdain by a professor. Thinks students are idiots. Avoid her. She seems to love to fail students, it's some kind of sick power trip. A blight on SDSU

Shes crazy, unorganized, however she is very structured. when given an assignment, be sure to know exactly what she wants, assignment can be very vague but she was a specific paper from everyone. extremely confusing. Dr. Vik is alway tired and stressed, bad moods.

It's odd to me that a communications prof has such difficulties conveying assignment requirements and expectations to students. I very much enjoyed this class. Ms. Vik is fair and is willing to help any student who takes the time to ask for help. The work is hard but I learned a great deal. I get the impression that people who don't care for her, don't want to put in the time necessary to get a good grade.

You really don't learn much from this class because you have to speed through every assignment, as you are just grasping one paper, the next one is due in a week. Time management is key in this class. She is very disorganized and briefly explains assignments. Just do the papers and get outta this class cuz there is little to be learned
