Comment:
When I took ESS55 Prof Magnusdottir introduced mathematical equations that are important to atmospheric science, but many classmates found it annoying that she made us actually use calculus in an atmos class instead of just multiple choice. Lectures are long, but if you participate and pay attention then useful.

Really boring, you can understand more by reading a textbook, but the class doesnt correlate with a textbook. professor never has office hours, and TA isnt helpful. Worst combination of an ESS class at UCI.

Out of all the ESS professors at UCI, she is by FAR the worst. The class was relatively simple up till the final. Do the homework early, get all the iclicker points, memorize the hw answers for the midterm. She leads you on with an easy midterm and then gives you a CRAZY hard final. She's very unclear, boring, and doesn't follow the textbook.

Class is extremely boring and not really useful, but go for iClicker questions. Class is easy if you memorize the hw she gives us. I honestly did not get anything out of this class because it was just about memorizing the questions and answers. Good class for easy A general ed class.

the hardest part of this class is to stay awake. you dont have to come but if you want participation points (iclicker) you should. avoid unless atmospheric science is your life

Her lectures are kind of boring, and she puts her power points up on the website. The only reason to go to class is for the participation, the clicker questions and quizes. She gives out a practice test for the midterm/final and she takes many questions word for word.

only reason to go to lecture is for quizzes. Test are from quizzes and hw so memorize answers and you will get an A. Book is a waste, I used it as a $100 drink coaster, so save your money. Professor makes the class harder than it is, just memorize homework and quizzes and read through the powerpoints (she post them)

She is an alright teacher. most of her lectures are hard to stay awake in though, I purposely sat right by where she would stand in lecture and I would still fall asleep. She seems really nice though. Her tests aren't that hard, for example, the majority of the questions for the final came from homework/quizzes verbatim. Overall not a bad class.

Not a very good professor in any way. Better bring some coffee to lecture, or else she will certainly put you to sleep. She skips around a lot during lecture, and does a poor job explaining rather simple subjects. She likes to spring pop quizzes on the class at random times, and her midterms/finals are hard.Avoid taking any classes by this prof.

she is always confused, and plus lectures at 930 not very good either. DOESN"T CURVE. EXAMS ARE TOO DIFFICULT. MOE THAN 65 MULTIPLE CHOICE ON BOTH MIDTERM AND FINAL. ALSO, VERY CONFUSING. JUST AVOID HER BUT YAH MIGHT NOT HAVE A CHOICE.

Her lectures are extremely boring, but i guess the text is just too dry. when you go see her at office hours, she really isnt of that much help. avoid taking her if you can, but then again, you might not have much choice
