I always think it's sad when students take an opportunity such as this to trash their instructors. I think the individual who wrote Mr. Hughes was -- as I recall -- "horable" says it all. If you can't spell "horrible" at the college level, it makes perfect sense why you and the class did not get along. Show some objectivity and maturity.

I would love to know what grade the person who thought he wasn't very helpful got probably a spoiled jock. He allows anyone to revise papers for a higher grade and retake tests to improve your grade. He is beyond helpful. He doesn't cater to athletes. He holds everyone to the same standards.

I couldn't help but notice the comment on he was not one of my favorites. I can tell you right now that person did not attend class regularly or do the work. Also the person is one who never takes responsibility for his own learning. It's ALWAYS someone else's fault. Hughes treats everyone fairly -- and goes out of his way to help you.

Took for both of his english classes. Lot of work but taught me how to write good papers adn was a big help. Nice guy. Very short and sarcastic...but keeps class interested. Will be okay if you turn in assignments. Willing to help you write papers.

This particular teacher is not one of my favorites. He is sarcastic and does not consider the fact that we're not all English majors. He is very vague with his responses to legitimate questions that we ask. It seems as if he would love to retire. I don't see what's holding him back.

It seems clear that "dunderhead" and "horable" wouldn't know quality if it was standing right in front of him. His class is the most organized (conceptually) I've ever been in. He's very deceiving in the sense of "knowledge." The man knows his stuff.
