No specific office hours but he is very accessable. He posts all the lectures online, but there are things he does in class that don't show up on the slides, like giving out homework or extra credit. Show up and it should be an easy class. Tests are hard but they have huge curve. Great guy, and if you show up it should be easy. Labs are also easy.

Though attendance wasn't mandatory, Naslund's lectures are great. He also writes short online "chapters" so that you don't have to buy a textbook. He's truly funny and clearly loves teaching. He grades fairly and will take all the time you need to help you understand the material. One of my favorite professors at Binghamton.

The class is pretty interesting itself. The problem arrises when tests are given. They are extremely difficult, especially if you don't put in work before them. I think I did well on the final after cramming for two days straight. Had to in order to save my grade from the last two tests. Labs are ok. You can usually finish them pretty early.

He is extremely knowledgeable about the subject and has very interesting lectures if you are interested in it. This class is what you make of it; put forth the effort and go to lectures and you will be fine. He wrote the textbook for the class and it is free to access, so use it. Labs are interesting.

insanely hard tests. the only reason i did ok in this class is because of the massive curves. i DO NOT recommend this class at all. ive never felt more demoralized by a gen ed in my whole life. Really nice guy who loves what he does but for people taking the course solely for the L credit are not going to have a fun time

Very smart guy. Because of this, he doesn't understand when the class is confused, because it's so obvious to him. He's very helpful if you go to office hours, but during lecture, very confusing and boring. He's never punctual, and is usually not around for lab sections (even when he says he will), so you have to hope your TA knows what's going on

Too much work for my L requirement. Half the time I have no idea what he's talking about. His lectures are pretty confusing.. Labs have nothing to do with anything. Theres a lot of memorization in this class Not a good idea for an easy A Gen-Ed

Overall, he's a pretty good teacher. The tests are really hard, but with the curve, I've gotten an A on all of them. Just take good notes and pay attention and you will be fine. He posts the lecture powerpoints on blackboard so it really helps.

The tests are super hard, but he gives a huge curve to them and to the class as a whole. Attendance barely helps with the tests, it's basically a luck of the draw with what he chooses to put on the tests. There is a ton of information to know, but it possible to get a B or even an A in the class due to the huge curves.

Nasslund is the man. Supremely nice, and has a genuine love for geology and teaching.Puts all the notes on blackboard, attendance non mandatory.Extremely helpful, but his tests were pretty hard.He gives a big curve and tons of opportunities to get a good grade, and I got a B+ when I thought I'd get a B-. But take him for the L its easy enough!

Go to lecture and take notes whenever he starts to draw stuff on the board. He has a large curve at the end of the course. If you go to lecture and do the labs, then it is very possible to get an A.

A great class and professor for you "L" credit. Though the textbook is only recommended, it actually helps a LOT with his tests (reduces how much you have to study). Making sure you have a strong, overarching understanding of earth science during the class is best, not just printing out powerpoint slideshows. Go to lecture! Tests are not cumulative

Naslund's tests are very, very difficult, and even though he grades them himself it takes a long time to get your grade. He's a nice guy though, and he's actually kind of funny. I learned a lot in this class, so it was worth it. Don't buy the textbook. GO TO LECTURE.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. He's a great guy who knows his stuff...makes the class interesting enough and tries so hard to make it enjoyable...labs are manageable and TA Dan was awesome...includes Top 10 questions to know for tests...don't buy the textbook...go to class, esp. right before an exam...study essay questions for sure! posts lectures on bb...

This class is basically middle school earth science, except that you have to go to labs. Naslund is a really nice guy and the material and tests are very easy. The labs are a pain, but since it takes care of the "L" gen-ed its ok.

really nice guy, but his class is boring. he tries to make his lectures as interesting as possible. pretty difficult for an intro class, although he does curve grades at the end of the semester. oh yeah, and the labs are terribly boring! but nonetheless, not a bad class.
