well, hes a wonderful guy, and im sure hes an amazing reporter...but he teaches nothing. He said in my class "I dont give A's" His papers seem easy but you will always get lower than expected. So, never take him for an easy A. it wont happen

He talks about his experiences in the field which would be nice- it that was going to be on the test!Journalism was my life all throughout high school; all I did... until this class totally disinterested me and put me to sleep. I must say he was one of the determining factors that influenced me to CHANGE MY MAJOR!

Lots and lots of stories! This is generally helpful, but can go on and on. Be careful to pay attention in class and let him know you're listening. He's definitely not afraid to call you out for sometimes very trivial things in front of the class. So basically don't do anything but sit there and listen in class.

I can't say I enjoyed his class and I can't say I hated his class. What I liked about Professor Howell is, I had some issues during class and he was very understandable. His test are directly from the book, however he will not be CLEAR about that at the very beginning of the semester. He'll wait til the week before the first test to be tell you.

I graduated 3 years ago and I'm still gonna take the time to point out how much I appreciate Prof. Howell. I really liked him and found him very helpful, and now that I've been working for 3 years I appreciate him even more because I see what it takes and I wouldn't have been prepared(and more qualified than a couple bosses) if it wasn't for him.

Great teacher... However, READ THE BOOK! Tests are fairly short but everything comes from the book... yea it's in the notes, but READ! As someone said earlier, get to know him outside of class too, he's an awesome character!

I'm still uncertain how much this class in particular helped me understand the world of MCOM. He's test had questions that literally came out of the blue. I took very good notes and studied the text instensly and still did bad on tests. Last paper he grades pretty intensely. Source things PERFECTLY

Haney likes to get students to think he's the old Walter Cronkite, that he left CBS news because Winthrop is so attractive. Haney is a pitiful excuse for a teacher. He should go home and sleep and drink and leave students alone.
