He is a nice guy and he tries hard to teach, but his writing is incomprehensible, his exams are insanely hard. His final was open book, but I think the whole class completely failed it (12 HARD PDE problems in 3 hrs is just not possible). At least his grading is generous. Overall expect a hard quarter if you decide to take a class with him.

this is the worst math teacher i've ever had... even if you can understand what he's saying here and there it won't help, because tests and homework are lightyears ahead of what he covers in class... its like he teaches you 2 plus 2 and then tests you on a continuous sumation of an integral by parts devided by an undefined limit

I had him for math20e and it was absolutely the most difficult math course I've ever taken. His tests were super hard and his final was beyond do-able (WTF is a "cupsoid"?). This class is hard and he makes things harder. I only scored around 50% in the class overall and got a B. That's how hard it is. Don't listen to those other students-it's HARD!

It is best that you ACTUALLY read the (very well prepared) lecture notes he has posted online, before class. Also, you should do some "outside reading" because fairly often he will be referencing particular theorems, etc that are NOT included in the book and whose name will not even mentioned. He curves like crazy. Study hard!! Many conceptual prob

Subject is not difficult, but lectures are difficult to follow. His English is too broken to comprehend the specific ideas that are being taught. He requires homework to be turned in weekly to be graded and he gives mostly questions which are not solved in the book or solutions manual. I recommend watching an MIT podcast, Multivariable Calculus

Very very hard to understand. He's very enthusiastic about the subject but fails at getting the student to care even one bit about vector calculus. Just derives formulas in class. Exams resembled the practice exams but he made them harder. TAs are pretty bad but that could change from quarter to quarter.

I heard he used to be mean&have hard tests, but my TA said he's a lot easier now. lectures suck, but he's a nice guy &the class is hard but not impossible. go to his review sessions before the tests. he's a funny guy: keeps his pant leg tucked into his sock all class, says theorems are "beautiful" at least once per class, can't pronounce "j" or "g"

He's a super nice guy, but is lectures got worse and worse as the quarter went on. My t.a. basically taught me everything. Homework could take a while, but tests were VERY straight forward, which was a plus.

Honestly, for an engineer, I didn't see anything that I'll have to use that I didn't already know/learn, and I waited until my 4th year to take this course. His accent coupled with the mic makes for a muffled lecture. Exams are chill though, they look just like the old tests. I never went to lecture, just studied old exams. Got a C. Good enough.

Very friendly and approachable instructor who cares about the success of his students. He makes the class interesting and worth studying. He does give quite a bit of homework, though. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Prof. Lindblad is a nice fellow who is genuinely concerned about how his students are doing in the class. He posts a lot of practice midterms and finals that are very similar to the real thing. I feel like I got a lot out of his lectures and I was rather amused by how he came to class every time with his sock tucked into his pants.

when i took him, it seemed like he ran out of time towards the end of the quarter and tried to cram everything into the last week. and then half of the stuff on the final was on the material covered in that last week!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really liked Lindblad. I liked how in lectures he proved almost every theorem b/c it helped me to understand them. But IMO 20E isn't an easy class. If you don't study and work hard, you'll struggle regardless of who you have. Tip: study his old tests.

Hard to understand but you get used to that. He teaches very little and it really makes no sense. Luckily the 20e book is pretty good. His tests are just like the practice exams. No tricky business

Lindblad is not that bad. His lecture is really helpful because he tests you on what he talks about in the lecture. Although he sometimes fails to finish doing examples, there's lecture notes available on his course website. Nice guy. No surprises in the exams.

What are his lectures?? It's so hard to tell what is going on and the book is even worse than him. He's a good guy, and his tests are pretty easy, he holds review sessions and gives lots of practice midterms so he wants you to do well and it's possible, but you have to put a lot of work in.

This guys sucks! He does not care about teaching or the students. You cant understand him, and he lectures strait from the book. And dont think i am jaded, i did get an A from the class, he was just the worst instructor at UCSD.
