Winters is a good professor and is very entertaining but I regret taking this class with him. He only uses exams as grades and I found it very hard to study for because he teaches the class extremely differently than anyone else. Would not take it again since other professors are easier due to assignments/extra credit.

Here's the gist, he's a genuine man with an IQ well above 130. He is an EXTREMELY harder grader and the exams are all hand-written. You must give evidence to the claims you make in your answers or you wont receive full credit. I would advise to ask questions, although he is very intimidating. If you decide to take the course... good luck charlie

Winter has a very specific (dark) sense of humor that I thought made the class enjoyable. There is no homework and nothing goes on Blackboard, so you HAVE to come to class and have to do well on exams. He is easy to follow and you don't get bored during class because it's constant examples. I would definitely recommend him.

His jokes are totally inappropriate. There are 2 exams and a final that make up your grade. Good luck to all who try and take ECON with him.

Winter is quite unique. He's cynical, self-degrading and very sarcastic. Somewhat intimidating at first, but he's a good guy who really cares about student success. The only grades you get are the 2 midterms and the final, and they're all based off notes, so go to class and I mean every class. If you're lost, go see him. Awesome dude.

Only grades are 2 midterms & a final. Would not recommend this teacher. Talks way to fast and is not helpful. Learned nothing. Cannot get tutors for this class unless they have been taught under him--teaches class completely different.

Comment:
Dr. Winter adopts a very traditional approach to teaching, whereby he does not offer online presentations or even assign homework for that matter (for 3150). Attending lectures is essential for your success as virtually all the information comes from there. He is always willing to adjust office hours to help and always answers questions clearly.

Winters is my favorite prof that I've had so far. If you don't understand the materials, he will tutor you in office hours until you do. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the notes are hand written on the black board, so if you aren't in class you're out of luck. If you're willing to put in hardwork and effort you should do fine in his class.

10/10 would NOT recommend. Professor Winter's lectures are filled with confusing jargon and concepts. The only grades for the course are the 3 exams. Each exam has only 6 questions, but don't let that fool you. 1/4 of my class failed the first exam, 1/3 failed the second. He also loves telling awkward jokes.

Be careful when you sign up for Winter's class. If you have a great mind for economics you will average a B- or C. He grades very hard and the way he grades is very confusing. If I would have the opportunity to re-do picking him, I would. Go with someone easier especially if you are not planning on studying economics in the long run.

I know it looks like I didn't score him high, but honestly he is a great professor. If you hate professors that just use power points and click through notes, you will like this guy. He writes everything by hand on the chalk board and you can actually learn with him. The entire class was based off of 3 tests that only had 6 questions each on them.

Winter is a brilliant man and a little bit of an ass. He really cares about his students and is willing to help anyone who puts in the effort. I would recommend him to any student who wants to be challenged and actually learn. You will do well if you work hard and care. He has a cute photo of his son in his office that makes him seem less scary.

Even though I am an economics major, I was a bit nervous to take an intermediate level class. Winter was AMAZING. He is the most helpful professor I have come across at OU. He encouraged students to seek help outside of class or after class. He would not let you leave the office until you fully grasped what was going on. Great, great professor

Prof. Winter is amazing! Although his class is so difficult if you do not have a great Econ brain, he is the best Professor in OU. If you are interest in economics and you want learn some challenge things, just take his course. It will be Reallllly helpful!

Prof. Winter knows his stuff, however he is not that good at explaining the concepts. There is no homework and no textbook, so it's rather difficult to know whether or not you are fully grasping the material. He's a nice guy and pretty funny, but I'd take Dr. Palmer over him if you are new to the subject and want to really learn the material.

Class totally sucked. Went through notes quickly. Did everything on the board so if you miss class a lot you wont get the notes. Only 3 exams so if you do bad on one you will do bad in the course. I liked Winter but the class was awful. He also is an extremely hard grader. You either get all the points or none.

knows a lot about Econ and he is very funny. Class is not mandatory, however i recommend going. 3 exams and he has a different grading scale then any other professor. no textbook. the final is worth 40 percent and he will take your highest and our of the 2 midterms and that will be weighted at 40 percent as well. Leaving you lowest exam at 20%
