His class is by far the hardest course I have ever taken. He gives at least one 3+ page paper every week. If you ever THINK about skipping class, he WILL fail you. I have learned a lot from him but be ready for some yelling. He isn't afraid to call you out and he is very harsh and blunt. Other than that, GOOD LUCK!

I honestly don't know what everyone else is talking about, Humphries is by far my favorite professor on campus. He will make you work for your grade, but makes lectures interesting and entertaining. You will take a bunch of notes and write alot of papers, but he makes it all tie back in to his lectures. Would recommend for any course taught by him.

It is simple. He is a very difficult teacher. Do not go into his classes thinking it will be easy. Hardest teacher I have ever had in my life. That being said, he was very informed and knowledgeable about his classes. Take Dr. Humphries class if you enjoy being very challenged and like a high workload.

Comment:

Humphries is a good professor that cares a lot about his students. He will ask you random questions in class. Come to class everyday, and turn in your homework on time and you'll pass the class easily. He gives take home tests that can be up to 6-9 paged essays. He is VERY opinionated.

Easy A, take notes, do your homework and show up on time. He does pick on students, and will announce your grade loudly, every time. So have a backbone and don't cry, believe me. It happens. Russia-Fanatic-- expect stories upon stories.

I like him. He's very helpful whenever you don't understand what's on your homework. He does take home tests. He do need your text book for his class. It's better that you show up everyday and on time. Take notes much as possible. He is honest and he does express his views a lot, I don't pay attention to it. He is funny.

Dr. Humphries was amazing. He shoots it straight and treats his students like the adults they are (or should be). He made me interested in Political Sociology and when he found out my baby was due the week of the finals, gave me an extension.

Hated sociology when I got to PSU, only took it as my minor bc it was the quickest way through school. Humphries made me understand it and actually enjoyed going to his classes. He doesn't sugar coat things like other teachers do. Treats you the same way a boss is going to in the real world, expects results and rips you if you don't produce.

This man is rude, and care nothin about you acutally learning anything. He more focused on pushing his own beliefs on you and insulting your work, even though he doesn't ever show you how to do the work correctly. Its a guessing game to say the least. Oh and by the way if he doesn't like you... don't expect a good grade.

Humphries is probably one of the most polarizing teachers at Pitt State. He is very politically outspoken, and one could argue parts of his class border on indoctrination. Thankfully, he has exquisite knowledge of sociology. I didn't agree with most of his views, but still found that I could learn from him. Take him with a grain of salt.

Very unhelpful on all assignments and instead of telling you what you did wrong he just writes no on the paper and tells you very loudly in front of everyone else that you completely messed up and to fix the damn paper soon. I've seen him do this and its not pretty...he also yelled at the entire class because his dog kept him up all night. Beware!!

For a summer course, this class was very interesting. Dr. Humphries allowed us to rewrite exams to raise our grades. As a non-traditional student, I appreciate the maturity of his approach to teaching.

Mr.Humphries thinks too highly of himself. Encourages class discussion then interupts others while they are talking. Rejects all opinions other than his own.Talks about students behind their back. Make sure to show up, don't stress about notes TOO much. do well on the takehome exams and you'll pass
