Looks like the old man from UP. Not a hard class by any means. His exams aren't bad if you know the material. There will be no surprises. There are only 2 topics that he covers bad. Those were FGPAs and 2 address microcode. If you get these you get what he is talking about. He has quizzes once a week, they're good @ indicating how you do on exams

Will spend entire lectures explaining things that you may use in the field on down the line but does not include these things on tests, homework or labs. He has wasted entire class periods inventing a problem only to solve it and produce the wrong answer. He will confuse you. Read the text book but not everything covered is in there. TA is useless.

Tyrer is overall a nice guy, but is useless as a professor. Half this time he doesnt even know what he is saying, so he will pause in confusion for minutes at a time. I took this course at a different university and the quality of teaching was rediculously better then Tyrer. Avoid this teacher if possible.

Testing system stupid; he will drop one of your 4 test grades (not incld. final) which helped, but tests were tricky; has a lot of part a,b,c ... problems that require you to get the first part to do the next so STUDY OLD TESTS even if you don't think that you covered it in class unless he tells you not to study. Labs are hard and worth only 10%.

This professor was horrible. He never explained anything in detail and was awful about helping students. There was about 100 kids in the class, and now about 15-20 go. I could have explained the subject better than he could.

I really wanted to like this class but he made it impossible. He is loud and obnoxious, his grading makes no sense, and he is very arrogant towards the students. When the semester started, there were like 80 people showing for lecture. Now there are probably 25. No on can stand him or the way he teaches. Seriously, worst class I've ever taken.

he is hard to understand, and when it comes to grading a test he is a hardass. this professor dosn't know how to set a curve. watch out, because i recieved a 98/100 on a test after two minor errors and it was curved down 8% to a 90. you have to be perfect to defeat his curves, and he is arrogant

Puts forth excellent effort although unclear at all times. You go to lecture and wander whats going on but after reading the book you notice how much sense he was making. Very fair and tests are not tricky. Very straightforward man and class.
