Expect having no life because all you do is read for this class. There is an exam every week. You receive an email from the professor the week before with 40 pages of typed notes that he expects you to read and memorize, along with making you read the book that he wrote. Whole class is unorganized and you never know what is going to be on the tests

I am so happy I had a class with Mr. Veryser. Sure there was a lot of reading, but what do you expect from a class that's basically the economic history of the U.S.? Veryser is a great guy who was a driving force in establishing Walsh as a center Austrian economics. He instilled love for the subject & is revered by students and fellow instructors.

Harry is a great guy and very passionate about his subject. Lots of reading but he breaks down what he expects. The best lecturer I have ever had. Previous postings say he's ambiguous. Guess what, the man teaches econonomics, what do you expect. Almost everyone in my class felt that he's one of the best.

Mr. Veryser was one of the most genuine teachers I have had. He cares about the students and really trys to make an impact. I wish he would talk more about business ethics rather than ethics in general though. Other than that, it was a great class, and I would definetly recommend him.

Would have preferred to learn more about yield curve analysis and the Fed's (vs the market) effect on interest rate markets as the course description suggests, instead of many outdated and disorganized articles about history and theory. I agree that the exams were ambigious, however before my critique is discounted, I did get an "A" regardless.

Veryser rocks. He wants to do more than treat class like a training seminar. He actually wants us to learn something and gain a broad view of the world, too. If your attention span sucks and you lack self control, you probably won't enjoy his class. But I found that I never looked at the clock during his lectures. Learned more than any other class.

The material was not difficult, however, it was excessive. There was too much reading. The professor is very knowledgeable and understandable. The worst thing about this class was, it wasn't organized and did not follow the syllabus.

Class is not that difficult, but wrong books were available in bookstore for this class. Also, teacher was not clear at all n what was to be covered this semiester and kept chaging what was to be done on quizes and tests.

It looks like the three reviews below for FIN 515 were written by the same person who earned a less than stellar grade in this class. I was in the same class, did the reading, took notes, and earned exactly the grade I wanted (A). This is graduate school so get used to the reading.

Endless dated reading regarding economic history not exactly what the class claims to cover. Does not teach well, lectures are very disorganized. Exam questions are very ambigous and subjective in nature (yet multiple choice most of the time). Should not be a prof!

Unorganized and hard to follow in lecture. Excessive reading, does not cover in class, then tests you on the specific merit of your reading comprehension. If you want to pay $1300 to read a lot, go ahead. Expect a test/quiz every class b/c the man can't teach!
