Comment:
Dr. Gourama is a very nice man. This class is easy. Attendance is half the grade so you need to show up. You only have one group project where you research a topic and have to write a paper and create a powerpoint for it. It was not that difficult, and it was the only real work we did. This class does not do as many activities as others FYS classes

If you hate group projects, don't like long papers, and hate lectures don't take this class. Gourama makes you work in Ag150. It isn't an easy first year seminar and at the end you have a group project (25 minute presentation) and a four page (SINGLE SPACED) paper to write. Unless you know you want to go into an Ag major don't take it.

He really tries to engage everyone and he even makes notes for you to fill in. Every now and then we'll watch a corny film from the 90s, but otherwise this class was enjoyable.

His accent is a little difficult at times but he's a great teacher! Take in depth notes, and pay attention, and the study guides will answer themselves.

Professor Gourama was awesome, ill admit his class was a little hard, but if you put in time to study for his tests then you will do fine. He was very nice about everything, a couple of us students thought his one test was irrelevant to what the study guide had said and we confronted him, he explained everything to us was very nice about it.

Easy class as long as you show up to each class and take decent notes. Very helpful teacher. If you spend time studying the notes before a test, you will get A's on the test. You don't need the book. I had him in STS 105 and Microbiology 106 and we never use it and you don't need to read it. Plus you get out of class early everyday.

Talk about subjective grading! An A is nearly unattainable on his tests, and I'm an A student in all my other classes. After talking to many other A students, the best in the school, the common complaint is the inconsistent grading. Definitions matching the defs in the book get random points off and are graded differently for each student.

Horrible teacher! He randomly takes off points. I have had put things on the test which are VERBATIM in the text and he will take off points. Extremely unfair, no rhyme or reason to his grading. Monotonous. I would NEVER reccommend this professor. EVER.

This class is taught by a very nice man that means well. However, the class can be boring at times and the tests require a lot of studying. Also, the tests are waaay too long. But this gen. ed class is better than the nutrition course offered. Only take this class if you plan on investing some time in going and studying.

A very, very nice professor and guy in general. Had him for STS105S (FYS) and Food Science 200, a good teacher who explains things thoroughly and is very helpful. His classes require that you listen to the lectures and take good notes to do well.
