Dr. Stokes is a very knowledgable professor like most when it comes to Orgo Chem. However, she is bat sht crazy when it comes to cheating and all that. I am convinced ppl who are chem majors are crazy.

she knows her stuff but she isnt a good professor. she skims topics in class and expects you to pick them up instantly, and she tests things that she hasn't covered in class. also she's rude, she interrupts students when they ask questions and refuses to repeat herself. she doesn't include a schedule in the syllabus so every test/quiz is a surprise

Dr. Stokes-Huby is the most caring professor I have ever come across. Yes she is tough, but then again this is a higher level chemistry course, so if you expected a walk in the park, maybe a science major is not for you. Expect to work hard, expect to do homework and studying outside of class. Visit her office hours and ask questions during class.

She knows her stuff and is very knowledgeable in chemistry but doesn't feel like she cares for her students. She seems unapproachable at times and if you're taking Orgo with those who already took it good luck on learning the material on your own. Took her in the summer & only those who recently took orgo but failed passed her class the second time

Dr. Stokes is the best chem teacher I've had so far! For the first time I actually understood chemistry. She explains everything very well, but sometimes she's rude and expect you to know everything. At first, I thought I was failing the course due to her grading system and at the end I did better than expected. Don't e-mail her after 10pm.

Dr. Stokes is the best Chem teacher I have ever had! I was nervous when I heard bad things about her because I am not the best chemistry student. She is so helpful, her lectures made me UNDERSTAND orgo. She is a hard grader, she wants you to know your stuff. I have already learned so much from her. I wish she was teaching Orgo 2 in summer 2!

Comment:

Stokes is very approachable and always gives feedback trying to explain things to the best of her ability. The hardest part about her are her tests and how hard she grades open ended questions. Although she makes the test, sometimes I feel like she is out there to trick students and sometimes throws in a few questions she barely went over in class.

I will not discredit Stokes because she is an excellent Chemist, however, her tests are beyond what she actually explains in class. As if the material she covers in class isn't heavy enough, she gives a lot of homework and expects you to always be in school to get in group studies. She doesn't consider people have jobs and other classes as well!

Comment:

One of the best professors at Kean. Organic chemistry is extremely difficult to grasp for some people but she makes it easy to understand and drills it into your head using classroom exercises. She makes you work for your grade, but you come out knowing that you actually learned something. Do all classhomework and you will do just fine.

She is better professor than test giver. She explains everything pretty good and gives us handouts to try and make everything easier. I actually knew what I was doing but failed only cuz her tests are super ridiculously hard. I put in a lot of effort too, so its not like I was goofing off all semester.

Comment:

She is a very tough professor, her tests are not easy and she does not sugarcoat anything. If she thinks you need to drop, she will warn you. She explains the material well and if you put in work, you will succeed in her class. Orgo is not easy but she breaks it down. Miss a class and you will not be able to catch up. I recommend her for Organic.

magnificent prof she enjoys chemistry alot which rubs off on you She gives alot of handouts and alot of questions to do in class, you will have to work alot in her class and study alot when out of class dr. stokes is very helpful, explains everything put expects alot of her students. she is very encouraging only take orgo with Dr.Stokes!!

The textbook is only online now and the hmwk too (easier than owl). Stokes is serious about chemistry and wants you to learn the material and pass. She comes off tough but I see it as a way to get you to be dedicated and be accountable. The exams are difficult but with a good amount of studying and attending EVERY class, you can do very well.

Her tests are a little hard, but she does go over the material well. You never know what to expect on her tests because she only picks out 1-2 parts from 3 chapters and tests you on it as 1 entire question. If I knew that than I would've focused on that and not everything else.

Honestly, her class is not easy BUT you will learn a lot. She is a great professor and she is very helpful when you ask questions. Exams are hard but if you apply yourself, do hw, and show up to class you should be good.
