This man cannot explain a single concept. I find myself constantly consulting sources outside the course to try and understand the material. His tests are vague and unclear like his lectures... I am warning you avoid this prof!!!!!!

By far the worst professor I've encountered in my short academic career. He's unclear in lecture, running off on tangents without adequately explaining any concepts. He spends more time in his lectures intimidating his students then he does actually trying to teach.

Basser will probably not appeal to you if you don't really want to be in his classes, but if you're interested in the subject matter he's fantastic. He's organized but brilliant so we can forgive him that. He has a tendency to go off on tangents but he loves questions so if you have a problem with where he's going, say something!

The comments here are a bit harsh, but I could see why people are having trouble with this professor. It is a bit of an adjustment to get used to his teaching style and what he wants to see in essays. The professor provided fair marking. He was very helpful and willing to talk after class, and at random times. He even helped me through emailing.

Also had him for 250 and was unsure if I wanted to take him again. I love the sound of his voice, I could listen to it all day. Didn't learn as much as I would've liked, but he's still interesting even if he goes off on tangents every other second

Worst class i have ever been in. Completely useless and waste of money. Rambles on about irrelivant topics most of the time. Changed all our work weightings because he screwed up. The only good outlook for this class is that he is going on sabbatical. He needs to retire or focus on graduate students. This course should not be mandetory!

Terrible. Half the class is students giving presentations, the other half is him rambling. Marking is inconsistent. The only thing good about this course is the light workload.

I disagree. Yes, in 250 he did not deliver, but 353 is a seminar class. And when he explains stuff he turns your world upside down, he's that good. If confused, askhim, or go to his office, he's VERY helpful, he'll even look over your essay for you. Take JWST 220 or a class where people actually care, you'll see that his effort is =/greater to your

This class was manditory - if it had not have been I would have dropped it! Basser doesnt teach - he falls asleep, reads the news paper, marks other classes papers, and plays with his cell phone while students teach the class. His grades though good, were unfair assessments of my work. Perhaps it is time for him to retire...

This man cannot teach. He uses literally half the class to tell the stories he's been telling for years. Or he fills the course with presentations and plays on his cell phone while they happen (didn't think i saw eh?). Any enjoyment u may get from his tangents disappears when you realize that you're actually paying money for the class.

The material was simple enough to do well in his class, I just didn't like him as a person. I found his tangents super annoying, and he just bugged me in general. He contradicts himself too. Maybe he's more effective in his other courses. I didn't like this one though.

He is a great man that is loaded with experience. As soon as he told his Tim Leary story I was hooked on the course. His quizes are fair, and he is a good marker with papers. All around a great course and an enjoyable prof.

Gets confused but still pulls through with great lectures. Tangents of very interesting information you remember more than class material. Also calls out cocky ignorant students.
