Hands down the best professor at UC. I first took him for differential equations freshman year and waited until he taught multivariable calculus and linear algebra because he was very helpful and curves your grade if you actively show interest. Never got an A on any test but got A's in all his classes. Tell him Allen R. recommend you he will know.

Nicest guy I ever met, but it's very tough to understand the topic because he has the worst handwriting imaginable and he speaks to the wall. So i did most of my learning through Khan Academy (Great source of info btw). Quizzes every class period, so you have to show up, at least for the end of the class period. Only three tests. Not too tough.

Prof. Halpern is a very knowledgeable man he just doesn't have the best teaching skills. He often talks soft and to the board, not the actual class. He gives out daily "attendance" quizzes that he grades very easily, but on the test he will take off for the smallest mistakes. If you have to take him, be prepared to come to class daily.

He is really nice and he like to help me to figure out my question , he is humorous, he is the best professor I ever met. He always teach something useful and if you want to learn something, you can choose him, and he tell what the range of exam. Really nice. If I have chance, I want to learn other course with him.

Professor Halpern is a nice guy, unfortunately he is almost impossible to understand. He mutters into the board for the entire class and scribbles completely illegibly on the board. Fortunately he does grade extremely easily to make up for this, but I barely learned anything all semester.

Dr H's voice may too soft for your average engineering jockstrap, but if you sit near the front of the class and actually pay attention, you'll find him to be kind, VERY knowledgeable about MANY areas of math and programming, and a total gentleman, unlike most UC students apparently. It was an honor to learn from him.

If you want to get an A and learn nothing, he's your guy. He gives daily quizzes (and gives the answer to said quizzes), and his lectures are of no help. He focuses on proofs beyond the scope of the class and can't do much of anything without making a mistake. His tests are poorly written, but he'll help you with them if you ask questions.

Learned absolutely nothing from him. Similar to Rainman, will mumble facing the board and screw up almost every problem he tries to do. You cannot read his handwriting or follow any bit of logic. He gives a quiz at the end of every class and gives you the answers. The tests are tough but grades very easily. USE KAHN ACADEMY!!!

Whoever said "He will put you to sleep faster than elephant tranquilizer," could not be more correct. That literally sums up the whole class. If it weren't for the quizzes, I would never go. You cannot understand a word this man says, and when he does speak, you better believe he is facing the chalkboard, because it just makes sense to do that. LOL

I could not understand a word this guy said. He would mumble on and on about something, usually a proof or an example, but half way through would say he did it wrong, then spend the rest of class trying to figure out why. He gave a quiz at the end of each class, which he would give you the answer to if the class gave him blank stares.

I've learned extremely little during lectures, I attend every single one and attempt to take notes. I've found that an hour of studying from the course book is worth more than an entire semester of lectures. This course was a struggle and nothing else, at least the professor is generous with this grading. myHighschoolteachers teach better than him.

Not the easiest professor. You have to learn on your own and the book is horrible explaining concepts. Very helpful in his office. Exams are based off problems from the book. You wont learn anything from the lectures. He gives the answer for daily quizzes. Everyone got a 10 on the quizzes.

Prof Halpern is a very nice person, but is almost impossible to follow as a teacher. He scribbles things on the board and mumbles, but often gives you the answer to the daily quiz. Grading is ridiculously generous and you can except about a letter grade higher than any other teacher.

Very bad professor (the worst of my college career), doesn't explain concepts (got NOTHING from lectures), doesn't respond to email, test questions are often over material that wasn't covered, pre-exam reviews cover material not previously discussed. Sometimes very disorganized and his grading is inconsistent.

If you had to take any differential equations class, this one is recommended. It is mandatory to learn on your own but he is an extremely easy grader. You will have quizzes everyday straight from the homework He will answer any question you have on the homework, but he is very difficult to understand. So your best bet is to learn on your own.

The only good thing that can be said about this guy is he's an extremely easy grader. The lectures are completely useless, and you will learn nothing from his class. He will put you to sleep faster than elephant tranquilizer. You will want to die. On the upside, if you put as much effort into the class as he does (none) you will still get an A.

Cant understand a single thing he is talking about regarding Mathematica. His class is extremely easy because he just makes sure you did the homework, but I did not learn Mathematica from him. If you want to actually learn Mathematica, dont take him. However if you want an extremely easy "pass" hes good for that. He's not helpful personally either.
