He's a decent teacher BUT his tests are HORRIBLE. They are very ambiguous and subjective. If you have another alternative I would recommend it because some of the test questions are total BS.

Comment:

Dr. Kauffman emphasizes the big picture in international finance. A large portion of class time is spent on exploring current events and analyzing scenarios with students. While interesting, I found it difficult to apply these discussions to learning the material to prepare for the exams. Exams focused on the big picture and fine details.

Great professor! One of the best on campus. He is extremely clear in letting the class know what he expects. Take notes during class and study the book before the exam for an A! Tests were completely essay so don't take this class if you can't write in a professional manner.

Taking exams in this class was like playing Russian roulette. I completely guessed on many exam questions. Even questions I completely understood, I still had to guess due to the ambiguity of the answer choices. This was a nightmare of a class since you never knew what was going to be on exams. Worst teacher. Hope for luck if you must take.

He lectures on a lot of real world material rather than the book (which you'll need to read for the test). He is a very interesting guy and tells you when its his "opinion." We watched the documentary entitled "Commanding Heights" which I have since purchased. It was a lot of fun...probably my favorite professor at ASU.

Smart guy, but not a good teacher. Can't organize material and deliver in short sentances. It was way easier to unerstand the book than Mr. Kaufman. His tests ask the most random, specific questions. Even though I understood the material and knew my stuff, I couldn't answer a lot of them. Not much help during the office hours either. Useless class.

Professor used to be chair of finance dept. Very bright guy with a wealth of knowledge. Does go on tangents a lot but its a lot of fun. Tests were purely from his lectures very little from the book. M/C and short answer exams. Great class and he made it a lot of fun.

Herb is a cool guy. Had 3 tests and a paper. Barely read the book at all. Tests had m/c and a couple short answers which weren't too bad. He likes to ramble on about golf and random stuff which is cool from the regular finance stuff.
