Good professor. I had a slight interest in the topic beforehand so actually enjoying what you will learn helps. Extremely passionate lecturer. I don't know what anyone else is talking about when they say his lectures are unclear, they were very clear to me. Also, The TA grades very easy. Only 2 tests and 1 paper which are both extremely easy.

Very fair Prof. who likes to challenge his students. You must put effort into this class.His style of teaching is not about having the student regurgitate facts but also to critically think about the how and why? Go to class, read the assignments for hw and take good notes in lecture.Don't be afraid to ask for help if u need it

lectures are usually hard to follow but if you take good notes when u look back on them they make more sense. However he was hostile when i came in for office hours and the worst thing was that i had to do a make up final and he never showed up!! i had to call him at home from the history office and then he blamed me for not reminding him!!

I concur! He is poorly organized, picks favorites, gets confrontational, and doesn't say what kind of paper he wants. You won't know about your progress until the final grade shows up in your transcript 'cause he doesn't grade previous papers. Wasted my time, effort, and $800 on him.

A prof who only helps a few students cannot be rated as helpful but biased. I've spoken with other fellow students who agreed he was quite hostile during office hours. Passionate lectures does not make great speeches (think Hitler). He's very unclear about what he wants on papers. His whole class is a hit-or-miss. For most it's a miss.

This class sucked, I took the W. He preaches his lectures like a rock star or something, but he's all over the place and is completely unclear. The readings are ridiculous and only confuse you more. Avoid it unless you're a major or a masochist or something.

Bennett is a not a bad professor, it's just that his teaching methods need improvement. 1) It's great that he has loads to say about a topic, but some stuff is quite irrevelant to the material at hand. 2) His tests & papers involve a lot of analytical thinking, which is great, but he doesn't state that explicitly & grades too harshly for 200-level.

Prof. Bennet is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He tends to get very involved in his lectures (which involve a lot of yelling and running around), so they're very interesting. If you're looking for intro history courses, definitely try classes with him, because he forces you to analyze things rather than just memorize facts.

Very challenging, I worked very hard in this class but it was very rewarding. I learned much more then just history, his leactures were fascinating, and he really knows his stuff. He is a very interesting and an excellent role model for all of us. I would take any of his classes if I could.

I really think the last few people who rated Bennett must have been the same person who has beef with him. If you are lazy and don't do the reading, you'll do bad in the class. If you read, come to class, and ask for his help when you need it you'll do good. He is very helpful and his lectures are very passionate, interesting and engaging.
