Great prof and great class/topic. A lot of the negative comments are from people that took this class as an easy A, so no wonder they're disappointed. One of the best McGill classes I took.

Great course with relevant topics. About half the course is taught by guest lecturers, usually experts in their fields. Multiple choice exams can be difficult, but the marks are bell curved and everyone gets the mark they deserve.

This is not a supper science heavy class but the proffesor is just terrible in terms of teaching, in person he's a sweet little man but his lecturing style is boring and his exams kind of random. I studied for first 2 midterms and failed but then did not study at all for final and got 90 something is wrong with this picture don't u think?

I think the proffesor is really nice, he really does try, he wants people to attend class and learn a great deal, however the exams as everyone has mentioned are multiple choice and kinda odd, even when i went to see TA they disagreed with the answers, we had about 64 class average which is really low for an elective, I found the material boring

prof is nice, really tries to help you class has to be one of the worst at mcgil in terms of exams and content and teaching though. Both the Ta and I were confused with some of the exam questions... as they contradict some fundamental facts of life....don't take this if u think its a bird class. Prof does not make his slides which is odd as well

As a science students, this was a really pointless elective and not an easy bird class actually, exams focus on too many random detaisl like the diameter of our mood for example, and the exact temperature on jupiter, really lame not cool and not fun

Class was ok first couple of weeks, but then his lectures got longer and longer material mroe and more boring, guest speakers are cool though and intresting, but the rest is really quite painfull to sit through, unless you love space stuff don't take it exams are ok but don't study for them it screws you over majourly, just don't study

Sadely for a person that loves space stuff this was really boring, ancient powerpoints, does not seem bad at the begining seems light and although are averages were low he curved everyone to an A minus but its just not worh the money or time for what u get, he does not know much science at all and his answers 2 exam questions seem well quite wrong

Ok so this prof curves grades! thats the one good thing about him thats about it, the material seems simple enouph but the teacher seems to have no science knowlede - ie a question was asked ( how do proteins form) and the answer was proteins spotaenously come together and any bio person knows you need to have rna/dna before you make proteins

Sadely these reviews echo vali's teaching style, he's a nice guy will try to give u a good grade, but the exams are just vague and even he contradicts his answers, beware that you have 100 slides sometimes in one lecture and you have to memorize a lot, if you like the subject take it but I found I didn' learn much at all, supper boring and dull

Ok so I know the prof is trying to crack down on the class as this used to be a very easy elective but taking this class was a nightmare, the prof does not make his slides, he just rambles about persoanl life and jokes and usually just points at slides and asks u to read it at home, the problem is you have to memorize every table

He really does not know hot to teach. You will always be falling asslep, its not that intresting, the questions are ok but all the answers seem similar- we had a class average of 60 which was just odd. And his lectures after the first 5 or 6 are really really long like 74-100 slides usually so its a pain in the butt to memorize, and he doesnt help

Avoid this course if you're looking for a simple elective. Though it's true that the course isn't science-heavy, you have to know everything on each slide! He doesn't seem to have any input in the exam and consequently, he's always surprised by the low marks. Not great.

DO not be fooled by his easy going nature. you need to know every single little thing on his slides! going to class is useless do not learn anything! hes a nice guy, supper sweet but he has no clue what he is doing to be honest, and does not know his material althoguh he is approchable and will try and help but too much material for an elective

Ok so if you like space mars stuff take this course , if you are looking for a fun and most importantly EASY elective do not take this course. His lectures after midterm 1 are 90 slides, you have to memorize everything! he doesnt even go through the lectures, tells u to look at them at home. His exams although easy are super ambigious and vaguue

SO MUCH CONTENT. It is ridiculous how much there is. It is all online though which is handy, but still. He is kind of funny and entertaining, but I feel the class is a bit much for a 100 level course. It is open to all students to take but I think something should be revised because it is a lot of stuff to know if you don't have the background.

EVERYTHING about this class is fantastic. Great prof, interesting material, easy-enough exams. He is super laid back and one of the nicest profs at McGill. If you like space/alien stuff at all, this is the class for you. Even if you're in Arts...the class is NOT science heavy
