Very unusual grading criteria, 50% homework, 50% quizzes. Said outright that he had no experience with Unix/ Linux so lectures were nearly useless. If you take him for Unix make sure you have a friend who is well versed in it so they can interpret/ teach you what he can't. Which will be most of it. Also, lots of coding in C rather than Unix console

Comment:
Michel mostly teaches seniors and grad students. I had him first semester of freshman year and he was horrendous. I had no background in the material at all, but he taught like everyone did which was a big challenge. He also was the farthest thing from encouraging, telling us that 2/3 would eventually fail out of engineering school. Not a fun time.

wastes lots of time in senior design by making up **** reports and presentations. CSPE was alright, but his book sucks.

Michel is probably one of the smartest profs in the department. That said, he does not do the best job of lecturing in this course, but to be fair, the course does not lend itself to lecture. Michel sticks around late into the night often and will spend literally hours trying to help you debug your circuit if you need help.
