Comment:
He has a very particular way of doing proofs and you will lose lots of points if you do not word it verbatim how he wants. His "feedback" on quizzes are impossible to read and offers hardly any partial credit on exams. Thankfully you can take discrete math instead of discrete structures, which I would highly suggest doing.

Comment:
Discrete Mathematics is very interesting, however this course was changed to fit into a computer science degree. Dr. Turner is an almost impossible grader. You will do it his way or you will get nothing. He's very condescending inside and outside of class. He may seem nice, but be careful. He's a math professor before he's a CS professor. Awful!

Hudson Turner is a great professor, but he's also a bit tough. Though if you pay attention and really try your best, you should be able to do fine in his class. He's incredibly nice and will always try to help you if you just ask him.

Comment:
For some reason Hudson Turner thinks it's a good idea to have a homework assignment (with average of like 20 problems each) due every single class period (3 times a week.) He's used to students struggling in his classes and has progressively made this class more ridiculous because too many people were getting good grades.

Had the students teach half the class, and takes attendance for lecture. If you need a policy to force students to attend, means they don't see value in what you're saying. example of CS department's academic tenure not supporting best interest of those looking to learn.

Comment:
CS 3512 is an extremely difficult class that should probably be split into a math class and a theory of computation class. Turner is a really nice guy and is always, always available for questions and extra help, however sometimes lectures can be intimidating if you don't understand the material because they move very fast.

Never have I had a professor so willing to help. He is a VERY difficult professor but anyone can get a decent grade if they are motivated enough. I was not very quick to understand this subject but he was still incredibly patient with me. Be prepared for pop quizzes in class (totally unexpected)

The class is extremely overwhelming at first. He is a very strict grader but his quizzes every week make the class really easy. All the concepts are extremely difficult but if you work hard it's cake.

Granted it's a hard subject, but the examples he did in class hardly ever related to the problems on the tests or quizes. And the way he explains the problems is in such a high level abstract way. That I often find myself searching google for a website that can explain it to me. Otherwise always willing to meet with u outside of class.

Hudson is great. I thought this class was going to be very boring, but he inspires interest in what would otherwise be a pretty dry subject. Engages students in the lectures, and is very helpful during office hours. A+!
