He's a good professor with sense of humor, but his tests are not easy especially the final. You have to study a lot and memorize a ton of quotes. However, I learned a great deal in those courses (American Eco Hist and Hist of Eco Thoughts). If you are interest in history, here is the right place for you. If you don't want to walk hard, don't take.

He's a nice guy and occasionally makes great jokes, but unfortunately his lectures are boring. It's pretty hard to hear him from the back of the room and it's really hard to pay attention. This can make his exams pretty difficult. You have to know all of the readings and lectures inside-out if you want any hope of passing, let alone getting an A.

Overall decent professor. I had him for American Economic History. To do well in his class, you must attend lectures and take good notes. Take this class seriously and study, you need to know a lot of information. Final is just the old exam questions that are reworded. Lectures are extremely boring but he occasionally makes funny comments or sings.

Good guy, you'll learn a lot. But the class isn't easy. There's an absolute ton to memorize and know and understand, and the amount of work and study for an A is staggering. That said, it's a really interesting class and he does a good job presenting the info, even if he is a bit dry. You can tell he's boiled teaching down to a science.

Very sweet professor. He's funny in strange ways, and tries to make the material as interesting as he can. He adds "fudge points" if the class average is too low. Overall, a very fair grader and extremely nice guy.

Easy A. Go to class, read the book, do the reading questions, do the practice exams, and you are guaranteed an A. More than 3/4 of the practice questions are recycled, how can you not get at least a B+..

I don't know how anyone can say this class is hard. It's not an "easy A" but it's most certainly an easy B/B+. The professor is super nice, and seems to enjoy the material. If you enjoy history, the class is interesting. Memorizing the quotes was annoying, but otherwise great class. There are a few tricky questions. Not difficult by any stretch.

Professor is tough. I took this class thinking I would do well. This was not the case. You literally have to memorize everything he tells you and then think outside of that. Final is cumulative. Heavy use of class notes, lectures, and textbook. If you are thinking of taking this as an elective...DONT!

Great professor, super clear, and very helpful. He's one of the nicest professors I've ever had. There is memorization of trends and the like. The class itself was interesting, and not overly difficult, definitely an easy B+. Just study his notes, KNOW the quotes, and read the text book and do the reading questions. Chapters are really short.

Prof Rockoff is very nice, and always willing to help his students. Even the lectures were a lit boring, you will learn a lot from his class. And the first exam wasn't too easy and also the final consisted of 145 questions(so much to memorize), but overall it's a good class. Strongly recommended.

this class can be an given A if you just do what he asks for. read the readings he gives you, do the old exams he gives you. answer and know the reading questions that he gives you. if you do all this you will get an A. his final is literally recycled questions from previous exams.

You need to go to class and you must do the readings to get the questions right on the exams. Make sure you look at old exams and the sample notes he provides. You won't do well if you don't attend class. There is too much he goes over in class that he puts on the exams for you to skip it. Also make sure you know the ans to the reading questions!

This is not an easy A class. There is plenty of long and difficult readings to do. You have to memorize a lot of information for the exams. Practice exams are not similar to the actual exams at all. He changed things around, it's not as easy anymore.

I took this class after I took AMerican Econ with him. This class is just as easy and good as the other. Professor Rockoff is always willing to help students and he is always dry funny comments. I definitely recommend him. Final was 140 questions but recycled questions, just use the practice exams and you will do fine.

Make sure to go to class and not just to rely on the text. Prof is a nice guy and at times can be very funny. Lectures were a bit dry but for the most part were interesting especially bc of the state of the economy currently. There are two midterms and a final. He did curve for our class but it depends on how the class does. Easy A if you want it.

Prof Rockoff is a great economics professor. His lectures are kind of slow but he is suprisingly funny. There are 3 exams, not too bad if you go to lecture and do the reading questions. No curve unless everyone does very poorly. Overall this class was pretty interesting and definitely worth taking with Professor Rockoff.

Lectures will put you to sleep. Just studying the notes from class isnt enough to do well, you actually have to read. Way too many questions on the exams.
