Comment:

I took Hunt's course with the Mises Institute. He was very clear when providing lectures. He assigned a great deal of reading but also included films and music to illustrate the points that he was making. Hunt is a helpful lecturer who provides a great deal of reference material because his views often challenge those in the mainstream.

Comment:

Pros: very helpful when it comes to writing essays, a bit relaxed with attendance policy, and a fair (and sort of easy)grader. Cons: Signs way more work than you were probably expecting, did not even assign a main textbook for this class, covers so much material in one class to the point that one becomes confused about his main points.

Audited a Mises Academy course taught by Mr. Tooley. He was very knowledgeable and eager to help make sure you understand the issues. Enjoyed his class immensely.

Ridiculous, very hard professor. Interesting subject material but -- he is very knowledgeable but does not know how to teach! Many things come out of the readings that he does not even go over. For a 103 class, he expects way too much. Cannot imagine how his upper level classes are. Do not take him!!! You will seriously regret it if you do!

I've learned so much from him. Yes, he's hard. Yes, he's fair. But he genuinely knows what he is talking about and cares about his students. If you come to class unprepared, he may be unforgiving. However, he states all his expectations at the beginning of the semester. Show up prepared and you'll do well and will learn more than you expect!

Great professor! Such a great person, he's tough, but do the work and you'll be fine. He's extremely fair, which is why some people get frustrated and upset by him. His JanTerm was fantastic too!

HARD. Tends to ramble on in class. The quizzes suck - you'll read a book and he'll ask one random detail, too bad if you get it wrong. He wants to help but if you can't memorize random dates or facts , you're sunk. DO NOT TAKE! There are better ways to get your credits! It's too late for me, save yourself!

Would not recommend. Sad that options for History are limited at AC. Would have loved to minor in history but would not want to listen to this guy and put up with his little man syndrome against males for additional classes. Got a B out of his class putting in 20 minutes a week, attendance policy was weak b/c lectures were too simple

He's a great prof, and knows his stuff really well. But his test are very hard and there is A LOT of reading for this class. Make sure you read, or you will NOT pass, he asks questions over the books you read and sometimes asks everyone to say one thing they liked, so be prepared. He is a great teacher, but beware, he is hard.

He is the hardest professor I've had, but undoubtedly the best in terms of knowing his subject and conveying the understanding to his students. He assigns alot of reading, but not so much that you can't do it. Seriously, though, don't take his classes if you don't plan to read. He is also ready to help you personally if you go and talk to him.

Its been awhile since I was in undergrad, and I has one of his courses when he was 1st hired by AC. Dr Tooley IMO was at that time probably the best overall History prof at the school, along with AJ Carlson. He is formidable and knowledgeable; students serious about History should take him.

lemme just say, I love Hunt, but I understand the negative reaction...he definatly threw a kid out of our CI class for not reading...ALWAYS READ for his classes! And understand that nothing you say will be right, not because he's mean, but because he wants you to think! Not an easy prof...

With Hunt, you have to have him at least once. He opens up to ya once you have had him. And he is helpful, you just have to make an effort to go and see him. One bad thing is its a lot of reading.

although i've heard he is a good history prof, that was not evident in heritage 22. i got an A in there, but learned nothing. my friends who had other profs for hwc 22 seemed to get a lot more out of the class.
