Comment:
He isn't the best at teaching, and he goes off topic a lot. However, he's super interesting and if you enjoy the material, you will enjoy his sidebars. I would recommend preparing to study on your own though. The book is useless, and it is hard at times to understand what he's teaching. I honestly only go to class to listen to his tangents.

It's clear that Hunter is good programmer, but that is not all it takes to be a good programming TEACHER, which he most definitely is not. It is obvious that he does not review the material he is going to teach before he walks in the door, the level of instruction is completely inadequate when compared to the difficulty of the assignments. Avoid.

Comment:
Hunter talks A LOT. So much that he hardly gets through the material he's planning to cover. This worried me at first because I though he would still test us on the information that he didn't get around to going over. But he didn't. This made the class incredibly easy. But that also means he taught me nothing when I am paying him to educate me.

Hunter Lloyd is by far the worst professor I have EVER encountered. He does not want to help, does not give us work related to material (learning Python GUIs while we are in a Data Structures and Algorithms in Java class), and writes tests exponentially harder than anything in labs. Horrible professor, AVOID IF POSSIBLE

By far one of the worst professors I have had and supports my argument that some professors should be kept far from the classroom. He is easily distracted during lectures and will go off on wild tangents that have nothing to do with the course. 11 weeks into the course and 4 out of 10 labs were graded and the TA's were just as confused.

He might be as bit funny in his lectures but since he uses no official textbook, you don't really learn much from him. You're expected to go out and learn it on your own outside of class. I was told once "I have too many students and I don't have time to help". I really fail to understand why he is teaching this course.

If you take this or any other class with professor Hunter Lloyd, prepare to teach yourself all the material in the class. Which would be fine, if we weren't all paying far out the ass to be here. He regularly goes off topic, and unless you are actually in his robotics class, you are not going to learn very much from him directly. Read ahead.

Hilarious. Knows his stuff more than anybody else around. Not actually a teacher, mostly here because of his great prestige. Not great at teaching as a result and he is very busy. However, he is the kind of professor you want to get to know because he can help you a long way beyond the class if you show a passion for computer science and understand

Although he does have a sense of humor, when it comes to actually teaching a class of people who have little to no experience with technology and their logistics, he is terrible. His comedic disposition does not help when it comes to understanding the class. Be prepared to look up youtube tutorials because asking him to teach you is impossible.

Yes, he does go off on so many tangents he ends up just making another circle, but he is super funny and is able to teach in a way that makes you interested in the subject, so that's good. (BTW, the nickname for 204 is "Messing Around With Computers")

He gets off topic easily, and is not very helpful. His lectures are dreaded. His co-professor is much better. Many students have tried talking to Loyd's superiors to Loyds's dismay. Haven't gone to lecture in months and easily finish labs within half the allotted time.

Take Hunter's classes they will boost your GPA, actually be interesting, maybe even be fun. Hunter puts a good spin on teaching and really makes classes fun to go to. One of the only CS Profs in the department that will actually talk to and help under grads. Easily the best thing MSU Bozeman's CS Dept has going for it.

Very funny, but lectures got off topic SO MUCH. I almost never attended class and still got an A through independent study. I never found going to lecture worth it. The book was a joke as well. Furthermore, he encourages use of a simplistic IDE which is only jarring on our learning, in my opinion.

Above average professor. Very humorous, and is a big story teller. He occasionally gets off on things that are not relevant to the class, but not to the point where it is distracts from the learning process. However, you will find his lectures to be very entertaining, and he explains difficult topics fairly well.

Very bad class. The class is supposed to be about computer vision yet we only play with the Nao robots. Most of the assignments have nothing to do with computer vision and image processing and everything to do with using Choreographe to make the robots do things.Take a class from Hunter if you want to just sit and play with the Nao robots.
