Kim-sensei is THE best prof ever. She gives clear instructions and explanations and never fails to amuse and engage the class. She's also very approachable and responds to emails very quickly. While some may say she's a tough grader, she's not; it's simply not possible to get a good grade in a language class without putting in the effort

BEST PROF I'VE EVER HAD HANDS DOWN Kim sensei is incredibly supportive, caring and super hilarious. Her classes are extremely engaging, informative and just overall enjoyable. She presents the material in a very "easy-to-remember" way, and encourages her students to talk/listen more, rather than write down notes. Will definitely take her again!

She is one of my favorite professors and I adore her personality. This class is highly discussion based and she encouraged us to think more deeply and critically by asking great questions. The course material she chose were also very inspirational and philosophical.

A fantastic instructor who is always available to give advice in and out of classroom. With regards to the course (Japanese for Professional Life) - - grades depend primarily on essays and group project - topics are discussed in depth in class so attendance is essential - easy to pass, difficult to excel

Kim Sensei is my favourite Japanese professor at UBC. She goes above and beyond for her students, is easy to meet with and responds to emails instantly. Her Japanese is very clear and she respects all her students equally. She is still a tough grader but wants everyone to pass and do well. I can't recommend her enough.

Kim sensei is amazing. Although she makes you present something in front of the class everyday, she is the best japanese prof at ubc. Marks very fairly, gives you a clear criteria for each test and is super helpful when asked for help. I wish she taught all of the Japanese classes at UBC. Other profs can't compare to her. She made me love Japanese.

Really nice prof! Easily one of the best courseprof I have ever taken at UBC. She marks very specifically, so you will most likely get mistakes on quizzestests, but isn't a hard marker. As long as you study, you'll be fine.

Best language prof ever. Hilarious and is very friendly with students. JAPN 150 is "intensive", definitely not a joke course, but doesn't feel too tough if stay on top of vocabkanji (finished Genki 1 in 3 months). Lots of in-class group skits and presentations to help you practice, but everyone has fun. Would definitely take her courses again!

Awful for any courses above 100-level. Unclear expectations, dull readings. Hours of prep work, only to find that none of it mattered in class. Super long midterm and exam, be prepared to write till your hand cramps. Not open to different opinions despite being a lit course. In short, do not take this course if you don't want to die every class.

She is always helpful and cheerful. She is the best lecturer I have ever had in UBC! There's lots of quiz but not much homework. She made me feel like to study Japanese so much! You should take her course if you are a beginner in Japanese, she makes very very clear explanations for every single grammar point. I wish she teaches JAPN 200 level too.

Very kind and funny. Makes sure everyone understands and creates a very relaxed and interesting learning atmosphere. Getting good grades requires passion, work and regular review (no falling behind or you're screwed), but if you do that you can get an A+.
