Frau Majer extends the scope of this class far beyond the limits of Turkish German Cinema, going into broadly applicable topics of cinema, like cinematic gaze, as well as relevant social issues. This, along with the professor being very smart and approachable, despite being a bit disorganized, makes the class well worth your time. Highly recommend.

The most amazing professor I have had in college thus far. She is such a unique and interesting individual; It was an honor to be in her class. She is incredibly intelligent and quite hysterical and amazingly sarcastic. . If you actively engage in the class and truly vest an interest in the course material you will reap the intellectual rewards.

Frau Majer's class was truly life changing. She is truly a wonderful professor, who takes a serious interest in getting to know her students, and her students' opinions. Although this class is not difficult, she will challenge to you improve your writing and the way you look at the world. I wish I could take this class over again!!!

Frau Majer is not only an incredible professor but also an incredible and insightful woman. She fused her cinema/history class with old and newer materials and presented them in a way I never thought of before. Favorite professor at BU. Her class was phenomenal. She is brilliant and impressive and encourages students to become nothing less

IMOS is by far one of the best professors that I have had at BU. She is enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about what she is teaching. There is quite a bit of reading involved and a lot of quizzes, but if you put effort into this class you will do well. You will not regret taking one of IMOS's courses.

I highly rec. Women/Girls in Visual Culture w/ Prof. Majer-O'Sickey. Prof. M/class were amazingly insightful. I learned so much about how women are represented in cinema and I now recognize certain things I previously would have not. I very much enjoyed the in depth class discussions which focused on film, current events and feminist theory. :)

Frau Majer is definitely THE BEST! You have to love they way she introduces the subjects and the movies, also the way she thinks. She is amazingly knowledgeable about the subject (Art or Propaganda:Leni Riefenstahl). No cinema technique knowledge is necessary but Nazi Era History helps. fair and relaxed grader,just talk smart in her class and laugh

Frau Majer always has an interesting and engaging lecture. She's funny and obviously knows a lot about the subject. Tests are open note but they are really difficult. Do all the reading, watch all the movies, and take as many meticulous notes as possible on both. Literally write down everything she says. It's a great class, though.

Frau Majer will challenge the way you view feminity, gender, mass psychology (if you take her Nazi film class), truth, film, everything, and yet asks only that you do the readings, and watch the films. If you are smart, and pay attention, you can do well in the class. If you are in the humanities or the arts, Frau Majer's classes are indispensible.

Very interesting class! IMOS is a great professor. At first I was really skeptical because she can be a little flaky, but she does really want you to succeed. I am a German major, but learned SO much about cinema that I want to take more classes. On a one-on-one level she is very approachable and helpful!

IMOS is an intelligent and clear speaking professor. Her "sense of humor" exists but is extremely corny. She is super strict on attendance. If you are serious about the class and do the work, it will be rewarding. Some of the feminist ideals are quite hard to follow especially when they get super feminist. She elaborates on points fairly well.

An excellent teacher, truly interested in educating instead of just going through the motions. Has a lot of really interesting view points, if students are willing to listen. BEWARE!! Her tests are extremely difficult!!!!! You think you're doing well until you take the tests. She's a nice women though. She's very funny. The movies she shows in her film classes are exteremely boring German films though. Be prepared to fall asleep. But she's a fair final grader.
