Comment:

She was disorganized and lost assignments, giving students zero when she lost their work. She gave me a D when I was supposed to get an A in the course and would not return emails from me, the chair, or the dean (who I eventually had to go to to get my mark changed). I will never take a class with her again.

Well, she's not that good at explaning things. I had to use the textbook alot but still a great class....but maybe not with her as the teacher! Tests were hard but came away with an A

pretty terrible prof, had her for two classes. had to give random bonus marks in both to boost the class averages. her computer skill are dreadful so expect many in class delays. Her clarity is just as bad, her notes conflict with the book and she never explains anything, just read bullet point form from her slides. try to avoid this professor.

Make sure you read the textbook chapters! At least half of the test is based on it, and there is not a lot of overlap between lecture notes and the text. Also, take good notes during class! Not posted online. Lots of stats get thrown at you, but if you take the jist of it you're ok. Kind of goes through the notes fast, better to type if you can.

my friend bought a new laptop because of her... she doesn't give out lecture notes and expect u to copy everything down.. i don't write in computer speed!! people constantly had to ask her to go back to the previous slide.. =/ in general, didn't really learn much in her class except pure memorization..

Terrible use of power point. Not the worst teacher I've had, but does not seem to have a clear idea on how students learn. Includes stories from her own practice which are interesting. Exams were a little odd, although not necessarily particularly challenging.

The poster child of how not to do powerpoint presentations. Long detailed notes that you will spend loads of time copying down with more specificity than you need to know. Dr. Friesen reads from the slides and doesn't always clarify what the notes mean. Not a bad prof but desperately needs to learn how students learn. Powerpoint is crutch.

I found her very cold and unapproachable. She made me feel horrible about myself for circumstances that were out of my control. I only hope that she would be more compassionate towards someone in her class who'd been in a car accident/death in the family.

A great prof. I never knew learning about aging could be so much fun. Tests are easy if you read your text and follow up on her notes. Quite an interesting topic, so takes you into wanting to do well.
