Well apparently this professor is taking a haitus from the school from an entire year! We don't know if shell be back but hopefully the teaching methods will be better with substitue. Get rid of the blue books for test. CS courses should not rely on blue books like a non-tech course does. Update Uhart.

Comment:

Pogils are the most useless part of this class. Non-graded and subnationally a study that offers some confusing terminology to new-comers. Graded work also has a tendency of coming back late. CS tests should be conducted via Black-Board as a modern standard. Bad reviews from other students is a sign of teaching methods that needs improvements.

For crying out loud Uhart needs to FIX the way test are for CS! Stop including things NOT mentioned in the book. This is the ONLY field where studying quizzes for exam is an issue!! When u study u expect the material from book to be on test or drom quiz! Sometimes not so u waste studying section that won't be there! Wtf! Makes thing more difficult!

Data mining is a field that this professor should have experience in. Unfortunately, the class that she runs on this has all students presenting the material themselves. When asked to explain concepts she will redirect to other students. She will wait until last minute to give an assignment (Due before class, with a 24 hour return on complex mat.)

Professor Russell was not the best teacher around, but she is a great person. She does try to help, and I did learn a lot, but mostly from the book and from other students. I don't think she deserves 1 star because she does have good intentions and does try to help, even if her help isn't always... helpful.

The tests are based on the textbook, so actually try to read it, as boring as it may seem. There's a lot of in-class work, so try not to miss the class. She gives a lot of extra credit assignments, but takes forever to grade them. She's nice, but isn't the best teacher, her TA was more helpful.

This woman is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my life. She is probably a well rounded person outside of this class but in class I have been filled with nothing but confusion. When she tries to help you it just makes the information that you're trying to understand worse and she makes other students help you. LEAVE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE

She genuinely cares about her students and is always willing to help where it is reasonable. Pay attention and ask questions, and don't expect things to be handed to you. If you are a good student, honestly try, and communicate well, she is a great professor!

Like everybody said she really is terrible, does not teach, and worse will not help you in or outside of class. Avoid this professor or better yet, if you can, go to another university because she teaches most high level courses. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ANYTHING IN HER CLASS.

Shes the worst teacher at the school. She doesn't teach at all and expects you to read the text book and basically teach yourself javascript which is almost impossible. In class when you have a question about the code she asks another student to help you. AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!

Possibly one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Flat out refuses to answer questions, and dances around when she has to answer them. I learned absolutely nothing in her class. She isn't helpful at all and hardly knows what she's talking about. Would pull test questions from things we hadn't learned and expected us to know them. Avoid at all costs

Yes, she is not the greatest teacher of all time. She is though a kind person who tries to help you as best as she can. If your looking to get into research, shes the person to talk to. She is very smart and I lost count on how much she has done for CS, but she just cannot teach. They should move to her a special research position.
