Absolutely awful teacher. Assumes everyone in the class is as smart as him, therefore goes over difficult material without any clearity or help. Office hours are no help, no clue who the TA is, tests are hard, and makes bad jokes. It might be an honors class but it's far from worth that title.

Ivan is awesome. He explains things well, is always available for help, and just is a generally good teacher. He knew most of the people in the class and graded very fairly (he actually grades for himself which is amazing). Great teacher.

THE BEST math professor I have ever had. He knows his stuff, has a good sense of humor, and knows how to teach. He is very into helping people, as in he has office hours whenever you need to see him and related stuff... Try to have him at least once!

Ivan is a great teacher compaired to some other math teachers at umass. He has good examples and acctually learns your name by the end of the year. As long as you have Mike as your TA you're all set, he rules, i wish he was my TA for math 132

The class is kind of hard. The tests are done by department... so the tests don't vary from class to class. Ivan give so many examples and knows how to teach... and makes the material seem easy. Doesn't get stuck on theorems.
