Jansen is a great teacher with hard tests. The stuff in class is really easy, tests on the other hand are brutal. He is the man and I completely reccomend taking his class.

made accounting much more bearable. tried to keep us awake with funny anecdotes/stories. he's not an easy grader but he's a great professor; if given the choice i would take him for ACCT 102 over any other prof. i came out of his class understanding acct so much better. great teaching style and charismatic guy in general.

He's the best - TAKE him! He teaches everything in class and gives good examples - you don't even need to do the readings. Do the HW (it's not hard or long) and you'll do fine on his tests, which are a bit tough, but not hard if you pay attention in class and do the hw (if you're in the biz school, then you'd like the hw)

Great professor! Makes an awful dry class very bearable... he knows when to take a little break and talk about random stuff when people are starting to fall asleep. His quizzes are ok if you study. His tests, however, I found to be tricky and difficult, even with lots of studying. He's very helpful though and the TAs are good too.

I was scared to death of taking accounting, but Jansen made it as enjoyable as it could have been. He is very charismatic and explains the material in many different ways to help you understand it. His tests are hard though and he is quick to take off points. You leave the class feeling like you really know the subject. Tough class, great teacher.

At the end of teh class, you realize that all his little asides, that took up 1/2 hour each class, really were of no real help to you. If you can keep his extraneous talking to a minimum, he's a lot more informative and helpful. His tests are bad, you HAVE to read problems incredibly carefully, or he'll take off points for a wrong classification.

Ivo Jansen is the love of my life. he is the reason Accounting is my major... Hard tests, but he makes the class fun and is always willing to take breaks during lectures. He challenges you to do your best and when you do well it really feels great. Everyone loves him. I for one am devastated he has a girlfriend.

Loved him as a professor. He is the reason I chose accounting as a major. FANTASTIC at teaching the material clearly and precisely. Absolutely take him if you can- but remember, his tests can be pretty challenging, especially if you do not attend lecture.

Jansen is absolutely awesome, although accounting is not. Somehow he even managed to make class interesting. He's a great teacher, and I highly reccomend going to his office hours even if you don't have a specifiic question, he'll just go over it with you, which helps a lot. He's awesome.

Not an easy class, but Jansen definitely helps. He's really funny and he really loves what he's teaching so it shows when he's in front of a class. Definitely important to do the work and study REALLY hard because accounting is a tough subject. Jansen is the guy to take though.

cutest, funniest, nicest guy ever. acct is a hard class but he is very passionate about his subject and makes the material as simple as possible. he'll always help during office hrs, gives note packs for each chapter where the test q's generally come from. best acct 1 prof by far

Amazing professor. I learned that I am horrible at accounting and never want to take it again, but I also learned that Janses is amazing. I don't know how I would have gotten through acct without him. He is so helpful, funny, and friendly. Class is even enjoyable. The tests are hard.
