Taught first half of Cell Biology course. Dull lecturer. Speeds through things as he just rehashes his lecture notes. Tests were fairly average, the practice exams help a lot. I just got the impression that he finds teaching boring and would rather be out studying bats.

Dr. Altenbach was the best instructor I ever had. His BIO 121 course made me consider biology as a career. Whether the subject is introductory biology or more advanced fields the dynamics of natural processes are fascinating and awe-inspiring provided they are presented by an instructor who knows and loves his/her subject, as Dr. Altenbach does.

He did not seem to truly understand molecular and cell biology, he went off on tangents and made things overly complicated. When the class average on the first test is a 55 there is something wrong with the test, and the perrson who wrote it.

I enjoyed taking this class more then anything. Cell is really hard and he makes it fun which makes it easier to understand. The test are hard though so don't miss class and make sure to read everything he says.

He's a very cool, easy-going teacher that truly has a passion for teaching biology. His skill in drawing (like a comic book artist) clearly illustrates everything he covers, and though he rarely cracks a joke, he's not a boring guy.
