Comment:
Although not mandatory, attending class was very helpful. 1)Extra credit clicker questions 2)In-class activities and labs (which are graded (and help your grade TONS)) make the concepts easier to understand. His online notes and EduCreations were fantastic. His lecture is confusing, but he does know what he's talking about and is very helpful.

Class is weighted to students benefit with Labs, Quizzes, Homework, and Activities so that poor tests grades do not hurt your grade badly. His in class demonstrations are extremely helpful, and he is willing to help students outside of class. The class overall is difficult, but the online lecture notes are extremely helpful!

Dr. Harrell is a decent teacher - great with in-class demonstrations! I wasn't always able to follow his explanations though. In-class work and quizzes were easy, homework was really difficult. USE THE ONLINE NOTES!! They are how I taught myself. He does give a bit of bonus, which is how I ended up with an A (to my great surprise). Study for tests!

smart teacher, but he wants you to figure most of it out on your own. info from class barely helps on homework (once a week) but is essentially whats on the quizzes (once a week). tests are multiple choice calculations and concepts. grade determined by huge spread of assignments. recommend getting book to teach yourself.

I'm not sure how I passed but I did. I went to every class, but still struggled to grasp the concepts. Smart man, however I didn't like the way he taught. Tests were hard but are more lecture based than anything else. A few HW problems showed up on tests. Do HW, Attend class, maybe you'll pass. Good Luck.

Good teacher. He does struggle to communicate some concepts, but hey, physics isn't the easiest of subjects out there. His exams can be a little tough because he doesn't really tell you what to expect on the exam. He gives plenty of in class work that boosts your grade though. If you go to class and somewhat study u will pass easily.

Physics isn't easy, but this is probably the best teacher you could have. He tries to make the tests easy. Do the online homework, show up for the labs, and study for the tests and you'll pass.

I don't know what the other people are talking about, because when I had him the tests were a LOT closer to the lectures (than the hw, for example). I did okay in the class, although I didn't learn very well from the way he taught. He does a lot of in-class activities that help, but I felt like we only got a very general idea of the material.

Horrible, horrible! I tried to take this for pre PT, dropped after the first test. His tests have NOTHING to do with the lectures.

Augh! Well, for a non-major, I enjoyed Physics before I took this course. Afterwards, it's ruined. Maybe it wasn't my thing, but Dr.Harrell turned me away from it completely. He's moderatly fair in what he grades and online notes are good, but find a different prof. for this course if you can. He's purely mediocre.

He is a horrible teacher. He is not a clear communicator, and he has trouble answering questions. His teaching assistant is not helpful either. His lectures do not prepare you for the tests, and his practice exams are always easier than the actual exams. If there is another professor teaching the class, do not take Harrell's class!

Hard class, but pretty good teacher. Allows students to use a notecard on tests and provides all formulas, which helps greatly.
