She was out with pneumonia for 1/3 of the semester. She felt so bad about her missed time that she made one of the two midterms so easy that the median and mean grades were both As and the final average was an A-.

I took BIOL 115 in my freshman year (Fall 2016), and it has to have been my easiest course at McGill so far. I was already familiar with most of the content from high school. There were three assignments, two midterms and a final, all of which were very easy. Professor Vogel is funny and charismatic, and her lectures and fun and easy to listen to.

She is such a sweet, understanding woman! She really cares about her students and appreciates one-on-one time with them. She is very caring and funny as well. If you are willing to put int he work, Jackie will notice and make sure that you are rewarded for such. She gives really helpful feedback and makes everyone feel smart.

Really funny and keeps her lectures interesting. Likes to explain more than is needed though, and can be confusing. But she's passionate and willing to help.

Dr Vogel taught two units in BIOL115. She was an engaging lecturer, but her lectures were often extremely disorganized. For example, she kept on getting sidetracked into confusing metaphors or by showing us material that was much harder than needed. Her exams were fine, though.

Prof. Vogel is an amazing person. She made me want to go to class, always made us laugh and found a way to give us life lessons even in micro biology classes. Some people say she's not an organized lecturer but I think she just has a style that needs some getting used to. She's one of the few profs that actually want students to learn, I loved her.

Bad lecturer, spends most of the time talking about herself and her cats. Slides are messy and confusing.

Vogel is a very insightful lecturer, but I wouldn't want to take an intro course with her again as she doesn't seem to enjoy teaching basic stuff. She would get deep very often. Very hilarious. Would love to take a class of hers in a field she is specialized in.

Jackie taught the first part of BIO115. She is extremely smart, having done her PhD at Yale. She usually finishes her lectures quickly, and keeps her students laughing. Her tests and assignments are also very easy, and she is good at explaining complex concepts. Biology is not my best subject, but I always enjoyed going to her lectures!

She is AWESOME (in my opinion anyway)!! She doesn̢۪t teach 112 anymore but definitely take her 500 level classes if you get the chance. Anyone with the least of knowledge in any field of science will understand her methods. Not for people who like to whine and complain because they can̢۪t deal with their own failures.

For her first time teaching this course I think she could have done worse, but I wouldn't recommend she teach it again. Her style of teaching isn't suited for a first year course, although kudos for listening to students after a bad midterm and showing us that she does care and vowing to improve the clarity of the final.

For a prof first time teaching a first year course, she wasn't too bad. I'm sure she'll be better and know what to improve if she teaches again next year.

Incredibly intelligent woman. Knows what she's talking about and will spend hours with you to make sure you understand. Hard to make a lab course about techniques interesting, but she is entertaining. She really appreciates participation and never makes you feel like an idiot. Great lady.

She's the best -- funny, clear, knowledgeable. The only hurdle is getting past the MASSIVELY boring material. If you stay awake through the material she's quite entertaining.

Not an easy course. Expect to spend a lot of time figuring out what the heck you just spent 6 hours in a lab for. Tests are HARD, and involve a lot of creative . If she has a tutorial, GO TO IT, and don't be afraid to ask dumb questions, it's the only way you'll do well.
