This guy is really nice, but he is SO boring. I wonder how he doesn't realize it while everyone is either doing crosswords or falling asleep. The tests are really easy, and the paper is nothing to stress about. I didn't read any of the short stories until I reviewed them a bit before the tests! Easy A hands down.

Bring a pillow. Although this class is somewhat easy, it is VERY boring and dull. He tends to ramble about things having nothing to do with the play. If you want a grade, take him and suck it up, but if you want to learn, take someone else. 2 exams (IDs, short answer, essay), 1 paper (he chooses topics).

I can only aspire to be as great as Jack Ashley. His charisma, passion for literature, and pleasant personality makes for a class you won't want to miss. I took him for a specialized class on Flannery O'Connor, and though the reading was heavy, I never lost interest. Tests are tough with most of it consisting of matching character names to quotes.

Class is very boring he tends to talk off topic b/c he is very knowledgable, alot of short readings, test are easy except last exam, one paper due. Easy A if you come to class. Attendence is a must he will fail you after 5 missed classes. I say take him, easy "A" for english and who doesn't need on of those!!

Relatively easy class. Unlike most Fiction classes, you aren't required to read a novel. Most of the stories are short. Class does get boring as he continually talks about the same things each and every day in class. I recommend treating class as a study hall. 1 test, 1 paper, 1 final.

Great teacher! One of the most brilliant teachers at USC. Knows his stuff! Very interesting class, although it can get a little dry at times. Short reads, easy tests, easy A. I highly recommend taking this class!

The tests are not that bad if you just read the stories which weren't very long at all. But class sucks! He goes off on the random tangents about stuff that just blows my mind and he repeats the same stories like every day. You could only miss 5 or you fail so sitting through class got tough.
