Very engaging and totally knows his stuff. Best strategy is to go to class (everything from the reading is in his lectures, and he often tells you explicitly what will be on the final) but if you do that and take notes it's an easy GPA booster. Fascinating subject material too - I'm actually persuing a criminal justice minor because of this class.

Honestly the best class I've ever taken at NEU. He is an amazing guy and knows his stuff. I recommend this class to EVERYONE - he is the man. The tests are multiple choice and easy - if you show up to class and pay attention it's an easy A

Jack Levin, remains, after 36 years, my gold standard for ideal professors. Brilliant, generous, engaging, challenging, uber funny, now a frequent media expert and well, still cute! BA Sociology/Anthropology, 1976

jack is the bees knees. magic tricks are legit. wicked cool material, some gruesome videos which are disturbing but does a good job warning you. funny guy, tests are difficult if you dont study. GO TO CLASS AND TAKE NOTES. if you do that, you will be set for the exams. definitely recommend this for anyone who needs to take an elective/gpa booster

Prof Levin is the best. He's hillarious, random, and keeps things interesting. He does magic tricks and sneaks funny pictures into his powerpoints to keep people paying attention. The only downside is that he doesn't post any material online so you absolutely HAVE to go to class. So worth it though! And his tests were a little difficult.

Class is interesting and Jack Levin is a pretty cool professor. He does magic tricks during class and knows a ton about the subject. The class is pretty easy but its definitely not easy to get an A. Getting a B is really easy though

Interesting subject matter. Class was worth going to, he sometimes did magic tricks to keep us entertained. However, the material (lectures & reading) are disorganized. At the beginning of the class, he says he is concerned with you understanding the material and won't test you on minutae, but there were some very nitpicky questions on the final.

Took his Soc. of Violence and Hate class and loved it! He kept it interesting, showed great movies, and performed magic tricks. If you have any interest in serial killers this class is for you! Went to talk to him before the final and he answered the questions I had specifically while holding the test in hand! Love him

Great to see Prof. Levin is still teaching. I took two of his classes in the late 80's. Even after all these years, he is still my favorite professor. His classes were very informative and very entertaining.

His classes are very interesting. Although class is not mandatory, you must show up because everything on his test is about the powerpoint slides. He makes you buy his own books. I would recommend to scan them before the test if you want to get an A. If you dont, just show up to class and take some THOROUGH AND GOOD noes and youll be good

this class is a GPA booster. go to class, take good notes, review before the final. that's really all you need for an A. he teaches the material well and it's interesting. also, don't be that kid that sends out mass emails asking for all the notes right before the final

Amazing. Funniest guy I know. Does magic tricks & plays a pretend trumpet. He's hilarious, looks like Albert Einstein, and teaches a really interesting class. Not mandatory to attend, but interesting enough to want to. DONT BUY THE TEXT BOOKS. Tests are easy enough to not need them, as long as you take notes/pay attention! Borrow Road to Whatever from library!

Looks like Albert Einstein. Brilliant man but likes to blow up his own ego. Very interesting analyses and examples. However, he does do magic tricks to "keep us awake" but its always at very very bizarre times.. Like talking about torture chambers for women and then goes on stage to pull ties out of a bag? Very sweet man 1 on 1 as well.

Interesting class. Huge lecture where about 200 kids go. Don't have to go just make sure you have the notes. Reading the texts are kind of a pain but you will get through it. Magic Tricks too.

This is a huge class, probably like 200 plus seats. There are 3 textbooks that are required, there are films and clips and Levin does these cute little magic tricks to keep the audience awake. However, if you miss alot of classes it wont be good
