Comment:

Nightmare! He ruined classical physics courses like statistical mechanics and meth methods. No basic teaching skills,and no respect for teaching, and probably physics. LOVE throwing his own research in class and exams.I can't think of reasons other than "showing off" and "lacking preparations for class" If you want to learn real physics, avoid him!

He's completely unhelpful. He doesn't care about the class. Grading is ridiculously subjective. No formula sheets or formulas given. We had to memorize CONSTANTS! He was removed from teaching the 2nd half of this course b/c no one signed up for it.

One MUST have patience with him!! Yeah, he can make your life really hard at times. But there were a lot of instances that he opened my eyes to new and wonderous things in Physics. He is dry but overall he is ok.

When someone asks me who was the worst professor I ever had I instantly think of Scudder. His class was also the lowest grade I ever got in college. Impossibly hard exams (I remember the first midterm, the average was 2.5/12 - multiple choice w/o partial credit). Avoid at all costs.

Probably not a bad guy outside of class, but he certainly wasn't made for teaching. He simply cannot teach. He cannot express himself in a way the class can understand. And his biggest problem is probably his ego. That's why he is unaproachable.
