Smart teacher but absolutely terrible at teaching lower level maths. He would often go off on tangents about higher level maths and how they relate but overall it was just confusing. Theres no mandatory hw but if you dont do it you wont pass. I taught myself using the textbook.

I don't know wtf everyone else is saying, I loved this guy. He doesn't feel the need to pander to the biggest idiot in the room! Instead of working a billion examples (never, ever helpful) he'd rather explain where all this stuff comes from, and prove it. If only this guy could teach Diff EQ... Oh, but I can dream.

Horrible professor-- try to avoid him if possible! He's incredibly condescending and the way he teaches is geared toward students who already know the material he is supposed to be TEACHING. When asking questions, he shuts you down quick. He also expects students to do everything on their own.

Despite opinion of a lot of people in my class, he was really nice to me. He had a problem with people who didn't show up to class and were unprepared. He has more comfort with higher level of students but his tests are straight, no surprises but fairly hard too. I had a good relationship with him or I think I did.

I'm not entirely sure why this man hasn't published papers on his ability to cure insomnia and slow down time within the confines of a room. I get excited when I see numbers because everything is in general form. The textbook is really good, which is fortunate, because you'll be teaching yourself everything in the course from it.

I took this class with Dr. Paur last fall, I highly recommend her as a teacher for this class. Dr. Silverstein talks down to studentsthe class, if you have questions, be prepared to get no help only criticized. Also he frequently will call people out in class, which only furthers the disruption. His feedback on tests are unclear.

Very unpleasant experience in this class. This guy is very math-smart but cannot teach, period. Mean to students and unhelpful in and outside of class. If you want to experience a hard class where the teacher is no real help, his class is the class for you. Do not go into his class expecting to have an enjoyable time.

Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. This guy is very math-smart but cannot teach, period. Very haughty and arrogant. Mean to students and unhelpful in and outside of class. If you want to experience a hard class where the teacher is no help whatsoever, his class is the class for you. I repeat he is mean arrogant and a horrible teacher.

I am a math major and this is the only math class I've had trouble with so far. If you ask for help he doesn't really answer he's like "I mean it's simple if you don't know it by now there's no hope for you passing the class." He said that once, the class chuckled because no one did. Also the tests are so short 2 work out and a few multiple choice.

Is not helpful or willing to answer questions. "You should know this by now" and "you're the student! you're not doing your job" are his catch phrases. His proofs are rough and he simply copies them off his paper without explaining. Practice tests were similar to real test but not a good basis for studying

This guy is one of the worst professors I've had. He knows the material, yes, but he assumes the students know it too. He has a very fast pased class, and his grading criteria is awfull. I made 2 ARITHMETIC ERRORS in a whole test, got a 70...It is better for you to find any other Dif Eq professor.

He is the nicest math teacher at NC State. I loved his class and his teaching methods. I think he is really helpful and as long as you are willing to work and actually participate in getting a good grade then you will benefit greatly from his help and his attention. He will respect you and wil ldo all he can to help you. Great guy!

Not the worst professor I have had...Writes comments straight from the text. Take another professor or be prepared to learn on your own. The material was easy but I think he could have done much better. The final exam is your grade in the class if the final exam grade is higher than the average of your test grades...A+ not too shabby.(the TA rocks)

He isn't the greatest teacher. He knows what he is talking about but he really can't explain it. Pretty much, unless you have taken Calculus already then you are screwed. If you ask a question then there is a good chance that he will call you stupid. If you don't have your book then he will not listen to you.

A nice enough guy, but doesn't quite get how to teach below his level. He teaches Calc. 1 like a graduate class. Also, not the most helpful guy when a student gets behind. Famous Silverstein quote: "You should know this! This is review!"
